Hey All!!
Nicole here, to tell the exciting tale of how Zach popped the question.
We flew down to Arizona to relax and celebrate my birthday week. It was our second full day and we went to hike the hieroglyphics trail (11/08/21)
I had my fujifilm (mini Polaroid style) camera with me - which we always bring and always forget to use. This time, Zach was determined not to forget. Bonus: He has an eye for finding some pretty backgrounds.
We made it up to the hieroglyphics, and I was ready to head back down. The snacks we brought wouldn't last much longer, I was getting hungry, tired, annoyed, and maybe a little snippy. 🙈
Zach is pretty good about recognizing my hangry signs, and agrees to turn back.
As we were on the last stretch of trail to the car, Zach asked to take one more picture on top of this huge Boulder that was no where near the path.
I was SUPER annoyed. But as I said earlier, he has an eye for good back drops, so I followed. We climb up the Boulder, take the picture and I put it in his backpack right away. Didn't look at the picture, didn't even let it finish developing.
I'm ready to get on the road.
And he just kept standing there.
Now awkwardly.
So, I stand next him awkwardly, for about 10 seconds until I ask if he's ready to leave.
He asked if I like the picture?
I said it looks fine. (Even though I never saw it - because at this time I'm hungry, tired, and honestly didn't really care what the picture looked like. I was ready to GTFO and eat.)
He asked to see the picture, that I had JUST put away.
I grunt, like the lady I am, and grab all of the pictures we took during the hike out of his backpack, and hand them to him.
He gets all giddy and asks me again if I like the picture.
I quickly glance at it and say again, it looks fine. -- All I see at this time is myself looking tired and gross.
So he changes up his question.
He asks which picture from the day I like best.
Now, I'm SUUUPER annoyed and being pretty short with him, and tell him that whichever picture he likes best is my favorite.
To which he snapped back "Nicole. Will you at least LOOK at the picture!?!"
This was the picture:
It took me a minute to realize that the little black square in the middle of the picture - was a little black box, with something that looks similar to a ring in it. I legit thought he might have been joking with me.
By the time I connected these dots, and looked up to respond with "Are you serious??!?"
Zach was getting down on one knee, with his go pro and the ring in a box, and asks me to marry him!
I say "YES!!" (obviously)
We laugh and smile and kiss and take this picture:
As I pull this picture out of our fujifilm camera, I get a massive, duel nostril, bloody nose. Thankfully I had Kleenex in my fanny-pack to help slow the flow.
