Nicole and I met in college our freshman year at Oklahoma. It’s kind of a funny story as we were both pseudo nervous engineers who were not particularly great at flirting. We spent some studying time together and very little time as friends. I wasn’t great at being just friends with someone I wanted to be in a relationship with. I kind of jumped the gun and knew I wanted to pursue a relationship with Nicole, so after our very first date in Oklahoma City, I had asked her to be my girlfriend. With a nervous, “Yes,” we rode back to Norman. During the ride, she talked me down a little bit and we decided to continue being good friends and hanging out. In my head I wouldn’t be acting different whether we were good friends and dating like we were, so I guess I had to be goofy, funny and flirtatious as well. Which I probably wasn’t good at…

This all took place at the end of our freshman year at school. Later that summer we decided to make it official and start dating.


Ever since then, Nicole and I have shared many amazing times together. I know how much we love and support one another. I truly believe she is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I cherish the time we have had together and look forward to more. She puts a smile on my face like nobody else.
