August 17th, 2019, I walked into Pier 37 Boathouse in Falmouth, as had been the routine for most Saturdays from June-September each summer, unaware that this night would end up setting off a chain of events that would change my life.

My buddies and I had made our way to the back of the patio and kicked off the night like any other, with a table full of mudslides and a few chirps about the morning round of golf at Falmouth CC. As I let everyone in the bar know about the birdie I made on 18, I got a text from our mutual friend who mentioned she was on her way and coming with “my future wife”.

When they walked in, I was introduced to Nicole Erin Theriault. At that moment I knew any plans I had were out the window, and we spent the rest of the night at the bar getting to know each other. An impromptu game of limbo (as pictured below) turned into a few hours of conversation about her recent trip to Ireland, our mutual love for red bull vodkas and me blabbering on about how beautiful she was, we exchanged numbers and never really looked back.

Over the next few months we began to spend more time with each other. By the time the pandemic hit, we had essentially moved in together in the basement of Tudor St in Southie. Wine nights, followed board game nights, followed Soprano nights on our makeshift back deck movie theater. The halting of our world, gave me all the time I needed to deeply get to know Nicole and fall more and more in love by the day.

Fast forward to September and we officially made the jump to our first apartment together in Seaport. The past 4 years have brought us a dog, an engagement, countless trips around the globe and a collection of memories that have been the foundation of our life together. Although our story is still young, in a lot of ways it feels that we’ve been through so much and I can’t wait to see what the future holds in this next chapter of us.
