The day Nick proposed happened to be the first snowfall / snow storm of the season and we had record snowfall for November. We had planned a few weeks prior to take our baby (Colt our dog) on a walk in the Lake County Forest Preserve and Nick made sure I knew that a little or a lot of snow in our case wasn't going to stop us from keeping our promise to Colt. On that Saturday morning we woke up and it was still snowing like crazy I looked outside and wasn't too sure how this "walk in the forest" was going to happen with over a foot of snow and counting. Nick was determined to go so we bundled up and got into his truck and some how made it to the forest preserve with out crashing or sliding off the road. It was still snowing like crazy at this point. We got out of the truck and starting walking into the Forrest which was difficult because of the deep snow, heavy snowfall, and brisk temperature but Colt was having a blast which was the purpose of the hike. After walking for a little in white out conditions we spotted a little puppy tied to a tree. As we got closer the puppy appeared to be left tied to a tree during a snow storm we couldn't believe someone would leave a little puppy life that, Nick urged me to hurry towards the puppy to check out the situation. I proceeded with caution, as I got closer to the puppy I looked around hoping to find the poor puppies owner and visibility was poor as it was still snowing like crazy but I couldn't see anyone. Nick was holding Colt back and told me to check the puppy's tags. I thought to myself of course so I reached down and the tag read " I Love You Nicole Will you Marry Me? I turned around in total shock and Nick was on his knee with the ring. His cousin Tina was also there hiding behind trees to capture the moment and took some amazing pictures of the engagement. I could not believe how perfect he planned out that day. The puppy was part of his plan and I named her Gemma. I am so glad that we kept our promise to Colt that day despite the crazy weather conditions and I can not wait to become Mrs. Calow.
