Our Wedding

This story could go pretty far back, but let’s start at least ~close~ to the beginning. The first time I ever saw Nicole (haha) I was relatively new to a friend group that I joined at our church, Watermark Community Church. In October of 2021, I saw/sorta met her at the DFW Sports Garden, a place where the group would go and play sand volleyball. I was used to just meeting a bunch of new people at church so I didn’t think too much about it at first. She was athletic and good at volleyball, that was cool!! Then I saw her sparingly for a couple months because she was living in College Station at the time. Then, in December 2022, she came to visit for Christmas, since her parents live in Frisco. One day that December, a group of us went to six flags and I got to spend a lot of the day with her, but me being awkward, I didn’t say too much. One thing stood out to me that day though. We were playing a game called signs while in line for the Texas Giant, and I just remember observing someone who was fun, joyful, and full of life. I knew I was interested in Nicole that day, but with her living in College Station I had to put any plans on the back burner. Fast forward to May of 2022, our friend group had planned a Memorial Day weekend trip to Big Bend National Park. Nicole and I had some limited interaction between the previous December and May, but by my gauge, Nicole was interested in me (reality was that she hadn’t thought about me like that… YET). I figured since both of us were going on the trip it would be a great time to spend time with her and get to know her more!! I remember praying and asking for direction on this trip. Whatever doors the Lord would open, I prayed that He would open them, and if doors were meant to close, that they would close. We spent a good amount of time together on that trip and I felt like we hit it off pretty good. We survived the desert and 110° weather together, so we can handle anything together right?? After the trip, I started to plan a way to get her number and express the old Wilhelm charm. A big portion of the group is into two stepping, most people aren’t that good (myself included) so I figured maybe Nicole and I could plan a time to get the group together to practice dancing and be taught by our resident dance instructor, Seth Jackson. I never actually got to attend this event, BUT it opened the door to texting Nicole. We texted a lot, so much so that Nicole finally got the memo. Only problem was that I was leaving for Slovenia in July. I’m not the best with timing, but there was a need to define the relationship, so I told her I was interested in her and would like to take her on a date, literally like a week before going to Slovenia. I remember Nicole saying we could go on a date, but that she wasn’t gonna put her life on hold for me. I thought “Well maybe she’s not that interested haha.” Either way, the texting and communication continued all throughout the few weeks I spent abroad in Slovenia. Finally when I returned, I re-affirmed my desire to go on a date and she did as well (even if I delayed a little bit haha). We went on our first date on August 22, 2022, and the rest is history!! Nicole has been a constant joy in my life; She is full of fun, wisdom, compassion, grace, support, competition, love, and so much more. Through the highs and lows of life and even our own relationship, she is steadfast. She is my best friend and I’m so thankful how God has brought us together. We both look forward to celebrating this union, that God has formed, with each one of you!!!!! 03.09.2024🤍

Alexander's Perspective

In 2021, I was still living in College Station post graduation and working at Texas A&M (whoop!). When I would visit my family in Dallas, I would also spend time hanging out with my college friends (now groomsmen, Seth and Cory) while I was in town. In October of 2021, I was dog sitting for my parents, so I was in Dallas for an extended weekend. My college friends and their rather large friend group were playing sand volleyball one of days I was in town, so I joined in. Thats when I remember meeting Alex for the first time--he was very quiet and kept to himself. I had visited a few times between then and May of 2022. Every visit, I remember enjoying hanging out with Alex; he was goofy and sweet, but he was still so quiet. In May of 2022, I moved back to Dallas and joined this large friend group on a trip to Big Bend (I’m not a camping girl btw). The trip was fun, exhausting (it was 112 degrees), and was where I really got to talk to Alex more. During the hikes and time at the campground, I enjoyed being with Alex because he was so joyful, even in the hard and adventurous moments, willing to climb every wall and explore every path. After the Big Bend trip, Alex texted me saying he would like to help me plan a two-stepping lesson for the friend group. Everyone had been so nice and welcoming at this point, I didnt think anything of Alex’s gesture. That was until the event had come and gone, he didnt even get to attend the event, and we were still texting. Over the next few months, we continued to hang out and get to know each other. Alex was going on a month-long vacation to Slovenia and 3 days before he left he decided to ask me to go on a date when he returned. I said yes, and we continued to text and talk on the phone while he was on vacation. We went on our first date when he came home and that’s when I realized how thoughtful Alex truly is! He took me to my favorite Mexican restaurant, El Fenix and we talked for hours. Every date after was so easy, joyful, and involved hours of conversation! Alexander is so thoughtful, kind, goofy, patient, and dependable. He is my best friend and biggest supporter! I am so excited to start a life with him and enter into a covenant before God and all of y’all!!
