Our Wedding

Our story begins in the wilds of Yellowstone National Park, a place filled with geysers, mountains, and bison-petting tourists. Soon we would discover it’s also a place where you could meet the love of your life.  We worked in separate districts, I was in Grant Village and Nicole in Canyon Village. Little did we know we would meet our perfect matches at beginning of season training! As our groups gathered at the West Thumb Geyser Basin, I saw Nicole for the first time. It was love at first sight. We spent the rest of that summer chasing sunsets together, hiking miles of trails, and singing The Devil Went Down to Georgia to ward off grizzlies in the night.

Our first trip together (also featuring Alex) was up to Glacier National Park! We had a week together exploring those beautiful mountains and lakes, and it was also the place I would tell her those three little words. Our last day as we watched the sunset, we swam in Lake McDonald, a long glacially carved lake with mountains on every side. I held her in the sunset light and cold water, and as a sweet little beaver swam by, I told her I loved her for the first time! She said she loved me too, making that the second sweetest set of words she’s ever said to me (the first is the reason you’re reading this right now!)

We finished out our Yellowstone summer, and bought our first travel trailer! Crazy for a couple to move in together into a home on wheels after only a couple months, but we’ve never been known to be sane! We rolled down to Arizona for the winter, where we got even crazier, and adopted 2 little babies to add to our family!

We had an amazing winter season in Sedona, then continued up the coast for 6 weeks, ending in Washington! We celebrated our first anniversary on the slopes of Mount Rainier, surrounded by glaciers and marmots! I only grew to love her more and more with each day we hiked in those beautiful Cascade Mountains.

From Washington our adventure turned east! We headed to New York, which would then take us to Europe! We spent six weeks tromping our way through the history and food of the land across the pond (and looking fancy as we did it). We toured Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, and a day in Germany!

Once we returned from the far east, we headed back west to the red rock paradise of Moab, Utah! Here we had a few months exploring the desert and falling deeper in love with every day. Each day we explored this other worldly landscape, the more I reflected on just how lucky I am. I have a woman that will go anywhere and do anything with me. I’ve never felt luckier in my life.

Finally we’ve ended up here in Colorado, where just a couple days ago I asked her the most important question of our lives. We hiked up to the most beautiful alpine lake we’d ever seen and I asked my sweet love if she’d like to spend the rest of her life with me. She said yes, and made me the happiest man on the planet. I can’t wait to spend our lives together!

Should I rent a car?

However, we do recommend carpooling when possible! Organizing with other guests (who you won’t kill after spending multiple hours in the car with them) will help cut cost and minimize parking concerns.

Things to Do

Many of our guests are first timers to the Wild West! We’re throwing anyone and everyone who’s interested into the deep end of the wilderness with a full day tour of the world’s first national park! Folks are more than welcome to explore both Yellowstone and Grand Teton on their own of course, but we are here if you want a little guidance to your day!  Below you’ll find a map of the park, feel free to peruse our route! We’ll be covering the best of the best, by focusing on the southern loop. I’ll go into detail of what we’ll see and do below!

Our first stop is arguably the most breathtaking view in the park, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. This is where Nicole worked the summer we met. She gave the most impactful educational programs in the entire park on the rim of the canyon. If you didn’t cry during her ranger program, you must not have had a brain, soul, or both. This waterfall is one of the largest in the National park system, cascading over 300 feet to the canyon below. We will drive the south rim of the canyon, finishing with the view that pushed the government to finally establish the first national park. This is easy walking to viewpoints on paved trails, with a few small steps and handrails, very accessible for anyone!

Next, we’ll visit our favorite place in the park, the beautiful Hayden Valley. It was here you would find us many an evening watching sunsets you can only find in Yellowstone, scanning the hillsides and meadows for bison and wolves, and falling in love by the minute. This will be a roadside event, stopping at pullouts as we drive to look for critters. Nothing more than a few steps out of the car! We’ll bring every spotting scope and pair of binoculars we can get our hands on to spot every animal we can. It’s here we have the best chance to see bison, wolves, elk, and of course grizzly bear!

After Hayden Valley, we’ll cruise the shores of Yellowstone Lake, a lake so massive it feels like an ocean. As we drive we’ll stop at a few pullouts to check out expansive vistas and beautiful migratory birds!

As we near the south end of the lake, we’ll take a stop at a very special place in our story. The West Thumb Geyser Basin, it’s where I first place I saw the lovely lady that will soon be my wife! We will take a stroll down the boardwalk to check out some beautiful deep blue pools reaching nearly boiling temperatures, and gorgeous cascading colors of runoff from those pools. With beautiful views of the lake, this will prepare us for the main event: Old Faithful.

Finally our last main stop on the tour will be the iconic Old Faithful geyser! This geyser is just as much Yellowstones figurehead as the bison, and for good reason. This geyser erupts on regular intervals, sending scalding hot water up to 180 feet into the air. It’s truly a sight to see! There are tons of other thermal features in this area as well, and the beautiful Old Faithful Inn has also stood here for over 100 years. This is the most famous geyser in the world, and we are thrilled to show it to you!

From Old Faithful we’ll begin our journey back to our home base in Driggs. We hope this will be an unforgettable experience for everyone and are already so thankful that you are joining us in the wilderness that we fell in love in. Thank you. The next day is all about Grand Teton! We’ll write out some of our favorite things to see and do in our favorite place, but we’ll send y’all out on your own to explore for yourselves! But I’m sure you can find us out there!

The Tetons, the most magnificent mountain range we’ve ever laid eyes on. Shooting 6,000 feet straight up from the Jackson Hole valley, these granite peaks are awe inspiring, jagged, and moving. This is why we decided to have our wedding in front of these monoliths. We could have thought of no better altar to stand in front of and say our vows.   Of course we want to share our love for this park with you as well! Teton is a little tougher to experience as one big group, so we’ve outlined the best of the best so you can choose the adventure that fits you! Explore the town of Jackson! It’s a rootin’ tootin’ good time that’ll make you pertineer a cowpoke by the end of your visit. Grab your boots and check out this Wild West town!

Grab your binoculars and look for wildlife in the parks meadows and streams! (Teton is littered with grizzly bears, bison, and moose!)

Check out the Jenny Lake Visitor Center and gift shop! (You’re gonna want a sticker at the very least)
