In a city brimming with history, the iconic command center for our nation, the everlasting tributes to generations of leaders and visionaries draw visitors from all over the world. While there is so much to see and participate in when visiting Washington DC, no one single attraction or site is quite as compelling as the monuments located throughout the city. Listed below are a few of Nicolette and Brandon's favorite National Monuments:
Washington Monument
Jefferson Memorial
Franklin D Roosevelt Memorial
Last but certainly not least, the Lincoln Memorial. This particular Memorial is special because on the backside facing Nicolette's favorite bridge into the city (Memorial Bridge) is where she said "I marry you" after Brandon got down on one knee. Yes, she did not say "yes" to the most important question of their lives thus far, Nicolette through the tears of happiness said "I marry you".
The Smithsonian Institution consists of 17 museums, galleries, and a zoo. One of our personal favorites is the American Art Museum. Discover the nation's first collection of American art and its home for contemporary craft at this free museum. Guests can wander through three centuries of American art.
The American Art Museum is about at 20 minute walk from the Phoenix Park hotel. Other forms of transportation are a quick uber/lyft ride or taking the DC metro. If riding the metro, guests will need to take the red line from Union Station metro stop heading towards Shady Grove. The next stop on the red line from Union Station is Judiciary Square - which is a few block away from the American Art Museum.
The American Art Museum is open daily from Open Daily, 11:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
