Nick and Nicolette first connected on the dating app Hinge back in 2020. They immediately hit it off and after a few days of text exchanges, Nick asked her to dinner. But before they even made it to their first date, they still had one large hurdle to climb. Nicolette had yet to reveal she did not actually live in Michigan at the time and was only home due to increased COVID restrictions in Chicago. Upon this bomb drop, Nick hit Nicolette with a few hours of radio silence and she was sure she would never hear from him again. But to her surprise, Nick finally responded saying he was willing to take a chance and continue with their first date as planned.


After a month or so of outdoor dining in December (because, COVID), Nicolette made the brave decision to introduce Nick to her family. Nicolette’s family was quick to ask all the important questions, ‘are you a Detroit Lions fan?’, ‘are you willing to participate in multiple rounds of family Olympics?’ and ‘do you thrive in settings where everyone is talking over one another?’. They could tell right away he was a great guy for Nicolette and was going to fit in perfectly.


A few months later, Nick introduced Nicolette to his family where he received similar positive reviews. Over the years Nick’s family has helped her master the game of 5 Crown’s, opened her eyes to the deliciousness of Sweetwater’s Donuts and taken her to her first of many Kalamazoo Growler’s games!


Flash forward to January of 2024, a few weeks after their 3-year anniversary, Nick planned a stay-cation in Downtown Detroit. This immediately raised Nicolette’s suspicions, as she knew a proposal was coming sometime soon. But when Nick suggested a walk around Belle Isle on what may have been the coldest day of the year, Nicolette knew it was happening. Following the proposal, the two celebrated at a surprise engagement party (planned by Nick!) with their friends and family.


Nick and Nicolette can’t wait to celebrate their wedding day surrounded by the most important people in their life and begin their journey as husband and wife!
