Matt grew up in Baton Rouge, LA and attended Louisiana State University for undergrad- Geaux Tigers! He began his medical career at LSU New Orleans and completed his Internal Medicine residency at LSU Baton Rouge where he was fortunate to be close to his family. He completed a chief year to pursue his passion in medical education. He then moved to Baltimore in 2020 during the COVID pandemic for Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University.
Coley grew up in Tampa, Florida and attended University of Florida for undergrad- Go Gators! She attended St. George’s University School of Medicine and lived abroad in the Caribbean for two years, taking full advantage of the beaches and rainforest between studying. She completed her medical school in New York/New Jersey living out her city girl dreams. She then moved to Baltimore in 2019 to begin residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
We met while training in Baltimore Maryland, also known as Charm City. Our connection was instantaneous. After dating for only three months we moved in together to a beautiful apartment on the Harbor. People called us crazy and we were (and still are). We adopted our child, aka Fells, that summer. When we weren’t on call, we were traveling and quickly became family. Matt was indoctorined at his first Stelter family reunion in Chicago, and traveled to Ireland for an abroad Kaiser wedding (shout out Connor and Paris). He also conquered his first Ski Weekend and discovered a passion for snow skiing (possibly more than Coley). Coley survived (thrived?) her first Mardi Gras season and loves her new role as auntie to the cutest nieces, Riley and Michaela. We had numerous trips to NYC, DC, and the Maryland shore, making the most of our time together on the East Coast. Matt officially asked Tom for Coley’s hand during a special moment while they cheered for her as she ran the New York City Marathon. Matt proposed that Christmas after Coley nearly ruined the surprise by taking an extra call shift. We are grateful to have found dream jobs and relocated to Matt’s home town of Baton Rouge, equidistant between Coley’s families in Denver and Tampa. We are so blessed to be supported by amazing family, friends, mentors, and partners in crime/life. We are excited to host our wedding in New Orleans, as we’d like to treat our amazing support system to the party of the year.
