Snowater Condos

Snowater Condos are a throwback to the 70's style resort. Laid back and has access to the ammenities like two swimming pools, outdoor games, and a great picnic area. Also it is right on the Nooksack River. Low cost 1-2 bedroom places that may or may not be updated. Leonard says bring an AC unit to them:) We will be staying here so we can share the amenities with everyone and provide breakfasts and dinner meals to those who choose to come!

Silverlake Campground

Beautiful campground right on Silver Lake in Whatcom County. The campground has full hook-ups. Also you can rent row boats, kayaks, and canoes.

Cabin Rentals

There are many cabin communities such as Snowline, Glacier Springs, and Mt. Baker Rim cabins. Many cabins have great amenities in the houses including air conditioning but no use of the community amenities are allowed such as the swimming pools and parks.

Bellingham

If you prefer a more modern comfortable stay in a hotel I would suggest the nearest big city of Bellingham. It is a little further away but will have access to modern amenities like wi-fi and cell coverage which is not guaranteed up in Glacier and Mt. Baker area.

This area is extremely rural. Only a few places are open for limited times and can close when they run out of food. For groceries I suggest stopping in Bellingham before heading out to Mount Baker area. Otherwise there is a small store in both Maple Falls and Glacier but think of it more like the original Mazama store.

Wake N Bake Bakery

Cute little coffee shop right in downtown Glacier has pretty good breakfast food such as burritos and sandwiches.

Pizza, drinks, and wifi!!! Reception will be held here but great place to stop for a drink or snack too!

Gunnar's Tex-Mex BBQ

We had high hopes for this place. Has great wi-fi and outdoor patio seating for dogs. But just so-so bbq food but we may be biased with our local BBQ joint!

North Fork Brewery

This brewery is a little further down the road. Has good beer and good food. Pizzas, pasta, and sandwiches.

Heather Meadows Ski Lodge 

Cute little store and cafe with very limited hours.

A Few Favorite Hikes in the Area

Artist Point- Huntoon Point

Easy 1 mile hike above the parking lot. Views of Mt. Baker, Mt. Shuskan, and even Baker Lake below. Gorgeous tarn lakes have a reflection of Mt. Shuskan.

Ptarmigan Ridge

A beautiful hike along a ridge line for up to 9 miles round trip. The first mile is gorgeous with views of Mount Shuskan and Mt. Baker. After a mile you near the turn off for Chain Lakes Loop and this area has a great view of surrounding mountains and trees. Makes a good turn around point if you want an easy hike.

Picture Lake

Roadside stop next to Picture Lake and quick walk. Great boardwalk and docks to view Mount Shuskan.

Bagley Lake Trail

Hikes around a couple lakes right under Table Mountain. The hike has a great bridge I think was built to represent the Three Billy Goats Gruff. It is so cute!

Chain Lakes Loop

Moderate 6.2 mile loop hike with 1800 elevation gain. Most people say to go counter clockwise and do the climbing towards the beginning. I think the best route is to park at the top at Artist Point and do a there and back route instead of completing the loop. You will hike around 3 lakes that are great for quick swims. My favorite is Iceberg Lake.

Lake Ann

A great hike to a magical lake at the bottom of Mount Shuskan. The hike does start 1/2 way up to Artist Point and you will start to hike downhill to then climb up again to the lake. So it does end on an uphill but the lake is worth it in my opinion! It is 8.2 miles and 1900 + elevation gain to this lake.

Winchester Lookout

Winchester Lookout- easy 3 mile hike can be a little sketchy with loose rock and sheer cliffs but the road needs high clearance vehicles like my Subaru. The area also has two fun lakes to swim and play at. However, it can be busy in summer. Some people rate the road the worst in the state next to Hart's Pass.

Nooksack Falls

Quick little jaunt down a road to a wonderful waterfall.
