The Wedding

Our Wedding

Nikki and Julian met in June of 2020 via the very romantic and unique dating app, Hinge. They felt an instant connection and their relationship blossomed quickly. They spent the rest of the summer at the river (where they may have suffered a near death, rapids-related incident), the beach, hiking, and camping.

The love story began

The happy couple decided to move in together in August of 2021. The transition to co-habitation was smooth and they enjoyed turning the North Van condo (Thanks Marion and Francesco!) into their home.

Moved in together

Julian and Nikki embarked on a three-week road trip adventure from Vancouver to LA in August 2022 in their beloved van, "The Deli". They had an absolute blast exploring National Parks, going to Disneyland, and camping in a Walmart parking lot. If their love can survive living in a tiny box for 3 weeks, it can survive anything!

Road trip

In January 2023 Julian and Nikki brought home Sophie and Matilda. These adorable sisters have been a happy addition to their family. Soph Loaf and Tilly Tots will unfortunately not be at the wedding as they strongly dislike most humans, but they will be in the couple's thoughts.

Adopted kittens

On December 10th, 2023, during their annual trip to Squamish to cut down a Christmas tree, Julian got down on one knee and asked Nikki to marry him. It was a private and beautiful proposal that was celebrated afterwards with hot chocolate and Baileys while decorating their new tree.

Hailey is Nikki's older sister and best friend. They grew up playing make-believe as children and then navigated the awkward teenage years together. They are now a vital part of each others adult lives.  In Nikki's opinion, Hailey is the best role model, cheerleader, and protector a little sister could hope for!

Hailey Mallow

Hannah and Nikki met when they were toddlers and instantly became besties for life. They were childhood dance partners and total trouble makers, often trying to convince others they were sisters. Their friendship has survived the test of time and distance, and there is no doubt in their minds that they will end up neighbours in the retirement home.

Thea and Nikki met in 2014, on their first day at UBC. They were floormates in first year and then continued to live together for the reminder of their undergrad in the infamous Rat Cave. They match each other's crazy energy and are constantly laughing when together. Even though they are no longer housemates, they still feel as close as ever and will always be there for one another.

Riley and Nikki met in 2015 when Riley heroically rescued Nikki from certain death in a tree well during their university ski trip, and they have been inseparable ever since. Riley is the perfect adventure buddy for Nikki, a loyal Cat Aunt for Sophie and Matilda, and will always be there to turn a good time into a great time.

Shannon and Nikki were across-the-hall neighbours in first year residence at UBC and they had such amazing time that they decided to continue living together along with Thea and Justine for the next three years. Whether they are adventuring, on the dance floor, or at a spontaneous Justin Timberlake concert, these two always have the best time together.

Jack and Julian met in 2015 during their first year at Capilano University. Jack had recently moved to Vancouver from LA and they immediately became great friends. Even though Jack lived in Vancouver for only one year, they built a strong bond that has kept them close for the last decade. They often call each other randomly to complain about the Canucks, or talk about what has been happening in their lives. Julian is excited to share his special day, with one of his closest friends.

Joey and Julian go way back. Friends since Kindergarten, these two managed to remain close despite the fact that Julian threw rocks at Joey, not once, but twice, in elementary school (Julian still believes that Joey had it coming). They navigated their youth and teenage years together, often getting into trouble. Joey is one of the few people to know Julian inside and out. 

Joey Gibbard

Starting in kindergarten, Harrison and Julian tackled the mean streets of Braemar Elementary. With Joey, they made a trio that was a force to reckon with even to this day. Harrison and Julian share a love of Lego. It built their friendship into the magical set it is today. You can find them chatting about UFC, new Lego sets, or diving deep into a random topic for the fun of it.

Warhammer. That was all that was needed for Simon and Julian to be friends. They continued to share their interests in new passions, becoming camping buddies. Simon is a friend Julian can call anytime, whether it is to complain, share exciting news, or catch up. Julian is thrilled to be sharing this day with a friend like Simon.

Simon Low

Tito and Julian met playing rugby at the Capilano Rugby Club. They evolved as players and coaches together, with Tito becoming Julian's coach for a season. Tito is a person that will always find the silver lining, and can put a smile on anyone's face. Tito is the perfect person to get the party going, with his electric personality and dance moves.

Andrew and Nikki became friends in university entirely due to their mutual love for two-stepping on every dance floor they encountered. When Nikki first introduced Julian to Andrew, they immediately hit it off and now, in Julian's misguided opinion, are even closer than Nikki and Andrew. The couple can think of no one else as perfect as Andrew is to officiate their wedding.

Belle is the daughter of bridesmaid, Hannah Nelson, and is the couple's first "niece." Julian and Nikki have so much love for this adorable girl and cannot wait to see her nail her runway moment walking down the aisle.

Venue 

Airports

The closest airport to the venue is Abbotsford (YXX), however, it is quite small and has limited flights. Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is a 1.5-2 hour drive away. Both airports have car rental options.

Parking and Shuttle

There is extremely limited parking at the venue. Therefore, we have arranged a shuttle to pick up and drop off all guests in town at the Harrison Lake Hotel. Pick up will begin at 2:45pm and will continue every 10-15 minutes. Drop off at the end of the night will be from 10pm-12pm. Lodging

We strongly recommend staying in the town of Harrison Hot Springs for the wedding as it is a 1.5-2 hour drive from Vancouver and the shuttle will be picking up and dropping everyone off there. Additionally, you may wish to stay the night before the wedding so that you will have access to your room prior to the ceremony start time.

We have blocked rooms at both the Harrison Hot Springs Resort and the Harrison Lake Hotel at a discounted rate for a two-night minimum stay. There are a number of Airbnb's in town as well, if that is your preference.
