Our Wedding

The saying goes that “Virginia Is For Lovers,” and that is no more true than right here in our fair city of Richmond. So, what happens when a West End girl meets a Southside boy for sushi on a rainy Sunday evening? You leave with a kiss and you get your toll money back, apparently. One kiss turned into one week, and one month turned into boyfriend and girlfriend. A music festival in March turned “I like you,” to “I love you and want to spend as much time as I can with you.” Sure, it was a lot to travel from the Fan to Midlothian every couple of days, but the evenings spent together turned into dinners together, late night cider (with a splash of apple brandy), watching entire seasons of TV shows, record shopping, concerts, coffee dates and so much more. Nikki’s sorority sisters became more than just her confidants, and my friends became more than just guys I would go to dinner and concerts with. One factor of our relationship that has really solidified and given us a better appreciation of each other is time. Right away I knew I wanted Nikki to be my girlfriend, but she told me I had to wait a month to put a label on “us.” Then, around April I knew she was the one for me to spend the rest of my life with, but she told me I had to wait a year to ask her to marry me. We bent that rule only slightly, as I knew there probably wouldn’t be another opportunity for me to have fireworks, a beautiful skyline, and champagne in many other places other than the Sky Garden in London. Now, in the engagement stage, we’ve given ourselves a year to prepare and plan our wedding, but lord, we didn’t expect the year to be this crazy and exciting and full of blessings as this one! I think you know you’ve found the person you’re going to spend the rest of your life with when you stop worrying about who it is and just enjoy the time you spend together and have fun doing whatever it is, as long as you’re together. The way they describe it on one of our favorite TV shows is the “buzz” you get from a newly ignited spark of love or infatuation, or as they say, “I’M BUZZIN!” (in a heavy British accent). It’s only fitting that one of our symbols for this love is a honeybee. Not only for that buzz you get from finding the love of your life, and not because our last name starts with “B,’ but because we always vow to be as sweet as honey, to help each other blossom into our best selves, and to mate for life the same way bees do. We thank you for being part of our journey and appreciate each and every person who has supported us. We hope that love finds you, and hope our love inspires always. Every single day, every single way.

Maybe if you’re lucky he’ll invite you to ride shotgun in the GT3, or even better yet, invite you on his next trip!

Pretty Tony Tondkar. The first friend I made in high school, and my best friend to this day. Believe it or not, at the time, he had hair longer than mine! He was wearing an Iron Maiden shirt and I thought to myself, "I DEFINITELY want to be friends with that guy."  Twenty years later, nothing's changed.

Like Jon, Robby was an early friend from high school. I think Mary begged his mom to take us to our first away cross country meet, and after puking across the finish line, we've remained friends ever since! A firefighter and EMS first responder, a lover of the outdoors and a true Southern gentleman, Robby’s kind heart, easy going personality and love of heavy metal made him an easy pick when choosing my squad for the Bachelor Brigade.

Robby Hurt

Born on 4/20, this guy knows how to party and his easy smile and charming personality make him an instant "yes" in any situation. A true Philly Phanatic, he is fly like his Eagles and steps over his competition like Allen Iverson. He can throw down in the kitchen, too - but he'd probably rather spend the time on the Hamptons beaches. The father of my godchild, he's one bad dad I had to have in my crew.

My other "little brother." The Tennessee Titan, Ben has been a friend of our family ever since he was born, and his mother and my mother are best friends. The sharpest dresser and biggest sneaker and sports fanatic I know, he's the next ESPN personality they just haven’t hired yet.

I met Mike in line at Record Store Day in 2014. Ten years later, he still has the best record collection of anyone I know and has helped me grow my own to a point of pride year after year. A lover of golf, cats, Buc-ee’s gas station, South Street tacos, antiques and cold orange juice with lemons, Mike Kelleher is the MAN!

The Palestinian Pedaler, George Q, aka Mr. GQ is a cycling superstar and Southern rap aficionado I most definitely had to have in the Bachelor Brigade. I met George doing improv and stand up comedy, and he's been making me laugh ever since. If you ever need somebody to ride bikes with, George is your boy!

George Qadado

My oldest bestest friend. She knows all the secrets and where all the bodies are buried. She is the hardest working gal I know, but also knows how to have the best time whenever we’re together. From horse farm life to city life - couldn’t imagine life without her in it. JB <3 BL.

Erin DeFore

One of my core friends since middle school. She’s seen me through all the awkward stages and stayed friends with me. Nothing is more exciting than our catamaran trips exploring the world nowadays! The friend where distance doesn’t matter and only a call away.

Erica Greene

High school bestie turned best friend. Anna is the most gorgeous friend inside and out and has a knack for navigation. I’ve always been directionally challenged and she has always been the perfect chauffeur. To the Village cafe for milkshakes and all the Richmond staples and back.

Anna Smith

A pledge sister that became a lifelong best friend. Chrissy is the easiest person to get along with and a role model I look up to. Don’t let her perfect house fool you, she still knows how to throw a themed party and get down with the best of them. 

Chrissy Yake

Two words: BIGGIE BIGGG. Ironically half my size, she’s the best big any girl could ask for. We have seen each other through the best of times and the worst, and always there for each other. Danielle has the most generous heart and I couldn’t imagine not being in our “Glitter & Booze” family together.

The one that doesn’t matter how far you live she’ll be there. Although neighbors now, Sara has always been a constant and the most reliable friend. She’s easily the most lovable, hilarious, and ridiculous all at the same time. Life is better with her in it and I can’t imagine not having had her through the past couple of years.

My playlist guru and dance queen - Allie and I have been jammin since 2010. She’s my fave to dine, travel, and make the most of any situation with. Workaholic she may be, but she always manages to make up for it and be there when it counts. “Oh na-na, what’s my name?”
