SPANISH CULTURE
There are a few things that you should know about the Spanish culture that will help you to understand the people and have a pleasant trip.
1. TIPPING: In some parts of Spain, tipping is rude. It is considered demeaning. We do not tip any service this applies to restaurants, taxis, massages etc.. We understand that tipping in American culture is a way to thank for the service. Please keep in mind that you don't do good by tipping in a country that it is not used to it. It makes it harder for the local people since it create expectations from the business to get tips.
2. DINNING: The vast majority of Spanish restaurants or bars do not have a hostess. If there is a free table you go and sit down. If the place is very full and a table opens, you can ask the waitress if you can sit. This rule doesn't apply when you are in a restaurant that needs reservation.
3. WAITERS: In America we are used to the waiter coming to your table to serve you and asking you several times if the food is good. In Spain you will have to get the attention of the waiter to take your order. They don't come if you don't call them. The same thing will apply when you need the bill.
4. PRICES: The prices that you see in the stores tags or menu, it already includes the tax.
