Does everyone attend Skup?

Yes. It is not required or mandatory but usually everyone who is invited to the wedding attends Skup Svatova (literally meaning "a gathering of wedding guests" in Serbian). It is a pre-party and one of the first opportunities both families get to celebrate together. There will be food, drinks, dancing and buying of the bride! Parking for skup will be on the street so either carpool or park somewhere on 82nd street. Warning: Serbian weddings are an all day affair. There will be coffee at Skup and at the reception to keep you going all day and night!

What is the dress code?

Serbian weddings are a very formal affair. The dress code for church specifically is sophisticated and elegant, often bordering on black-tie. For men, it is appropriate to wear a suit with a crisp dress shirt and tie. Footwear should be black or brown dress shoes. For women an full-length evening gown is ideal. Dark or jewel tones work well. A sophisticated cocktail dress that falls below the knee is also acceptable, especially if it has elegant details. Elegant heels or dressy flats that complement your outfit are okay.

Is cocktail hour and the reception at the same location?

Yes. Cocktail hour will take plan in the iconic Mitchell Park Domes and our reception is in the Greenhouse, which is connected to the Domes. Our cocktail hour is held inside the Domes for an unforgettable experience. Food and drinks will be served so look forward to socializing and taking pictures in the Domes prior to the reception. There will be signs and individuals leading you to the Greenhouse fifteen minutes prior to the start of the reception.

Is there a break between the ceremony and cocktail hour?

No. That is one of my biggest wedding pet-peeves. As soon as the ceremony is over with, everyone should head to the Domes to get this party started!

Are the Domes open all night?

Yes. Once normal business hours end for the Domes, only our guests will have access to the buildings. Guests are free to spend as much time as they'd like during our reception and kids are welcome to run free and check out all of the cool exhibits in the Domes.

What kind of music can I expect?

There will be a mix of both Serbian and American music as we hired both a DJ and Serbian band to play at our reception. Serbian song requests on RSVPs will go to the band and all others will go to the DJ.
