Four Freedoms Park is an outdoor monument to freedom on the southern tip of Roosevelt Island.

Transportation

There will be golf carts on hand to shuttle guests from the Roosevelt Island Tram and Subway stop (F Train - Orange Line). Note that we are prioritizing rides for older folks and those with difficulty walking, so please consider a stroll if you are able to do so.

There are a few ways to get to Roosevelt Island:

TRAM:

The most scenic route, and the one that will get you closest to the wedding venue, is the Roosevelt Island Tram - https://rioc.ny.gov/tramtransportation.htm

The Tram runs regularly from East 60th Street and 2nd Avenue in Manhattan to Roosevelt Island, and takes about 5 minutes to complete its journey once it has left the station.

SUBWAY:

Unfortunately, the F train is under construction over the wedding weekend, so Queens-bound trains from Manhattan will not be stopping at Roosevelt Island during that time. If you are traveling from Manhattan by Subway, please take either the Green 4, 5, or 6 train to 59th Street or the Yellow N, Q, or R train to 59th Street/Lexington and exit the station. From there it is a 5 minute walk to the Tramway station on 60th Street and 2nd Avenue.

DRIVING:

It is of course also possible to drive or take a taxi to Roosevelt Island. From Manhattan, you or your driver must take the 59th Street (Queensboro) Bridge into Queens, then drive north for a bit to 36th Ave. where the Roosevelt Island Bridge will take you onto the island. If you are being driven, ask to be dropped off by the Tram - this is as far south as cars can go, and you can either walk the rest of the distance to the park or ride one of our golf carts.

If you are driving yourself, you MUST park your car in Motorgate Garage - the large parking structure at the foot of the bridge on the Island side. You enter the garage from the bridge, before driving down the ramp to the island. Please note - there is NO unmetered street parking on Roosevelt Island - the garage is your only option.

From the garage, you will most likely want to take a bus down to the southern side of the island where the Tram stop is - this is where our golf carts will be and/or where you can walk to the park. The RIOC buses are red and free of charge, and will pick you up at the ground floor of Motorgate Garage. They will stop at various points on the island while making their way south.

Weather and Attire

August weather forecast: Mid 80's, sunny, slightly humid & a chance of showers.

There is no official dress code - wear what makes you comfortable, feel good and look good - "Garden Party Attire"

Light and breathable fabric is recommended

An extra layer for the evening may come in handy.

There is a 10/15 minute walk into the park, and dancing to be had! Consider wearing or bringing comfortable shoes. Ladies, consider a wider heel or platform for smooth strides on grass and cobblestone.

Schedule

Though we have invited you to join us at 4pm, our ceremony starts at 5pm.

You may join us anywhere from 4pm-5pm.

There is not only a half-mile walk from the Tram or Subway to the park, but about another 800 feet from the entrance of the park to the ceremony area.

Please give yourself plenty of extra time for travel if it is your first time visiting the park or you are unfamiliar with Roosevelt Island. That means most of you!

Most importantly, please remember to enjoy yourself!
