How we met

We met on a dating app called Hinge. "Designed to be deleted" is its mission. Definitely worked for us!

Nina: "I was so enjoying our long messages back and forth on the app that I almost didn't want to go to regular texting since that can quickly become "hey, what's up, not much, cool...". I created a "note" for us within apple notes so we could send one to two long messages a day about various topics. We learned so much about each other and I really loved getting the notifications and seeing his LONG paragraphs in response back to me. Felt like the old times when people used to write letters!!"

When we knew

Wael took Nina to a beautiful park near his campus that he used to jog by often. They picked up food and sat by the water, watching the ducks and turtles swim by.

Wael: "During our chat, we started getting into very deep topics about spirituality, what we want to achieve in life, lifestyle goals, personal development aspirations, etc. We found out that we share a lot in common in both our values and how we want to live our life. At that moment, the thought of her becoming my wife came into my mind and a wave of peace came over me. I had a feeling from then on that she is the one."

The Proposal

Picture of The Proposal

Wael: "It was a very exciting day. The night before I wrote my speech to Nina and I felt both so excited and nervous. It helped that we picked out Nina's engagement ring together and we had lived together for over 6 months at this point so I was pretty sure she'd say yes.

I decided to take her to the same place where I first knew that she was the one, at the park from one of our first dates. We brought the blanket we bought together in Costa Rica and I bought some fuchsia roses."

Nina: "Because Wael and I live together, it was very funny watching Wael try to keep the proposal plans from me. Being the planner in the relationship, it was so suspicious when he asked if he could "reserve" that Saturday for something. hmmm.. I wonder what that is ;). He also hid himself in the office for a few hours so I figured something was up.

I had thought a lot beforehand about where I would've taken him if I was proposing. While we both love the beach, I wanted the spot to be meaningful to both of us so I chose the park. How crazy that Wael was thinking the same thing. After he proposed I asked him why he chose the park and he said it was the spot that he first realized I could be the one. I had felt the same way! We had never once spoken about how meaningful that chat was at the park yet it made such a strong impression on both of us. Just shows how much we are in alignment and how similar we are! Couldn't have chosen a better proposal."
