November 27, 2021 
Louis drove to Fox Creek Ernie O&#8217;s to meet the sweetest and most beautiful person ever, Niya Dewalt, at 7:30pm . Niya ordered a chicken quesadilla and a Diet Coke.(She likes to drink lots of Diet Coke.) Louis ordered a Reuben with a poutine and a Dr. Pepper. They were sitting and talking, losing track of time, until the restaurant was closing. The restaurant stayed open an hour and half past closing, and they left at 10:30pm. They hugged and kissed before Louis had to drive home in a snowstorm. He called his sister Gina to tell her all about how the date went. When he got home he told Niya he made it home. They would talk on the phone, message each other, and go on dates. Louis was working lots, so he only answered when he could. Niya would go for tractor rides when Louis was busy working in the field and bring him a nice warm meal.
 
They adopted two cats, Gertrude and Dorothy. Louis' gift for Niya for Christmas 2022 was a trip to Cuba.
 
February 10th, 2023
During their trip to Cuba, Louis and Niya booked for the Tropicana show. At 5 o&#8217;clock that day after touring Havana, they were getting ready for the Tropicana show by changing in their room at the hotel. Niya was taking a shower when Louis was down on one knee waiting for her to come out. Niya came out complaining about the water being cold when Louis asked her to marry him. Niya nearly dropped the towel, but she said yes. She then realized that she had been carrying the ring all along in her backpack in an inside pouch.
