Sara’s Version:
Noah will say that our versions are practically the same, but as all great love stories go, each person’s perspective is 100% in play. Boy meets girl, boy finishes up college, boy thinks girl is cute, boy asks future sister in law if girl would be interested, and girl is not interested…. Through the years of 2017-2020, I would see Noah around, but it wasn’t until he became a GA at Asbury and I was coaching swimming that I saw him even more. Fast forward to summer of 2021… right before Zach and Victoria’s wedding, Vic asked me “what do you think of Noah??” (Obviously she was thinking that she needed to have an awesome SIL), to which I responded that I wasn’t interested. Something about him being younger, and it just felt like we were in different life stages. Upon reflection, the concept of dating a younger man wasn’t completely taboo in my mind since my mom is 5 years older than my dad, but for some reason I just wasn’t interested. Over the next year or so, Victoria kept pestering me about Noah… she would bring it up any chance she got(again, she was targeting me bc she knew she wanted a SIL as awesome as me) even though she knew it was a no for me. As time went on, other influential people in our lives also began speaking into the idea of us being together. One cold, dark morning in probably January of 2022, Alex Keyser saw Noah at the Luce during our morning swim practice and yelled “hey everyone, that guy has a huge crush on Sara!!!!!”…. So the joke continued on. It wasn’t until May of 2022 that things really began to change. Noah graduated with his MBA and Victoria threw him a graduation party. At said party, many of Noah’s friends, his parents, and God parents were all in attendance. We played a “Noah Trivia” game and the final question in the game was “should Noah date Sara Henderson??” I don’t embarrass easily, but I was BEET RED AND WANTED TO KILL VICTORIA. At that time, I was still hesitant and not interested, so thanks a lot Vic…. From that party, Noah wrote a thank you note to me. In that note he casually said “how about a date sometime soon?” I was really unsure whether it was a joke or not (and to this day Noah doesn’t say, but it’s obvious he had a huge crush duh), so I intentionally ignored it for about 3 weeks. It wasn’t until I was at a wedding for a former swimmer when my heart really began to soften to the idea of Noah. In my life, there have been times where I’ve truly felt a nudge of the Hold Spirit, and I wholeheartedly believe this was one of those times. At the wedding, Noah’s name came up in conversation, and a flip switched in my mind and in my heart. I decided to text him the next day and agree to go on a date. The rest is truly history. From that initial text to today, Noah has shown me his kind and compassionate heart, his love for the Lord, for me, and for others. I am the luckiest to get to partner with Noah to further the kingdom forever!
