It was late 2016 when Lary and I met, I was working as a fitness attendant at a gym in Leduc. Lary was a popular member at the gym so it didn’t take much time for us to meet, we became friends quite quickly & would spend most of our time chatting with each other at the fitness desk or around other parts of the gym. I’ve always described our connection to each other as “magnetic” with that being said, it would come as no surprise to anyone that knew us years ago that we are now getting married! However, it took a few years before we finally ended up together. Our time together was spent primarily at the gym, either when I was working the desk or training, we didn’t spend really any time together outside of that.

In 2018, Lary ended up switching to a different gym in the city and we didn’t see each other for over a year after that but we kept in touch with each other. From 2018 to 2020 we would weave in and out of each other’s lives, seeing each other infrequently at parties, or the odd time at the gym. It wasn’t until the end of May of 2021 that Lary and I became a couple.

It truly felt like that part in the movie where the guy finally gets the girl. We fell in love with each other that summer, spending all our time together going on dinner dates, training together, having drinks on patios, going for walks, traveling to Banff, and Victoria.

Fast forward to December 27th, 2022, Lary plans a beautiful surprise birthday party for me on a Tuesday evening after work. As I was hugging our friend’s goodbye at the end of the night, I turned around to see Lary down on one knee with a ring in his hand. It was a matter seconds before we were both in tears, and obviously I said yes!!
