It was August 2016, and Norayr was preparing to serve at Camp Arevelk in New York as a counselor and worship leader. He noticed a new name on the Facebook counselor group who would be joining camp that year which he did not recognize as someone from AEYF East. It was Garin Haidostian, and as Norayr looked through her profile, Garin had Norayr's full attention.
As Camp week progressed, Norayr seemed to always try to be around Garin. Garin could sense very well what was going on but was not interested.
As the week came to an end and campers and counselors started to leave, Norayr thought as he watched Garin enter and drive off in that green minivan, "Was this it? Will we ever see each other again?"
As the years passed by, Norayr tried to keep in touch with Garin, hoping that eventually a relationship would grow, but after two years he gave up.
For the next three years life went on, and both Garin and Norayr focused on different aspects of their lives. But after the third year, Norayr started to have a thought that just kept coming back repeatedly. God placed a thought in Norayr that said, "Try again, it will work this time". Initially he ignored it, but it just did not go away. After many months of having this strong feeling of "Try again, it will work this time" Garin and Norayr saw God work this miracle of developing that acquaintance from six years ago which seemed impossible from all angles.
You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.
Psalm 139: 1-6 NIV
