Only July 16, 2017, Sam and Nya “met” after both separately attending a day party hosted by some of their mutual friends. On that day, Nya was sitting at the bar by herself when Sam and his best friend/cousin walked into the party. Sam then approached Nya stating that she looked familiar, which most ladies know as an “old pick-up line” lol, and for that reason, Nya did not believe him initially. After Sam briefly refreshed her memory, this was in fact the truth. 

Sam and Nya had initially met dating back to 2015 at their place of employment where they both cared for the same patients in a different capacity, Sam as a Master's prepared social worker, and Nya as the nurse practitioner. 

Sam then proceeded to buy Nya a drink, they exchanged numbers and went their separate ways after chatting for a bit. As time went on, they became better acquainted with each other and continued to date over a span of months before finally making their relationship official early in 2018.   

During their dating phase, Sam and Nya were inseparable, and it remains that way till this day, truly best friends. On February 12, 2024, Sam presented Nya with a beautiful, custom painted self portrait of the two, which also served as her Valentine’s Day gift, as Sam knows that Nya loves sentimental gifts over materialistic gifts. While Nya was full-blown crying he then popped the big question, and she said “YES”!!!
