Q & A

When is the RSVP deadline?

We know our invitations went out a bit later than planned - six months to plan a wedding is no joke! So please let us know if you’re coming by Sunday, May 4. We need to finalise guest numbers and menu choices with the venue the week after.

Should guests RSVP even if they are unable to attend?

Yes, please! If you can’t make it, let us know. It’ll help us with the final arrangements.

What information needs to be provided when RSVPing?

When you RSVP, tell us if you're attending, your menu choices (starter, main, and dessert), and if you'll need a seat on the bus. If you do need a seat, let us know where in Cardiff you’ll be joining from.

How can RSVPs be made?

You can text Olamide at 07823 892 348 or Corrina at 07476 175 325. Or you can submit your response online. Check the RSVP section for more details.

Where is the ceremony?

Our ceremony will be in the Oak Room at Canada Lodge & Lake, Heol Pant-Y-Gored, Creigiau, Cardiff, CF15 9NF. Gorgeous views guaranteed!

What time does the ceremony begin?

Please arrive by 12:30 PM to get comfortably seated before the ceremony starts at 1:00 PM.

Where is the reception?

Following the ceremony, we’ll head outdoors for a drink’s reception, then back inside for a three-course wedding breakfast and an evening party - all at Canada Lodge & Lake.

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony is indoors with a lake view. After, we’ll enjoy drinks on the outdoor patio (rain won’t stop us, there’s a retractable roof!). We’ll move back indoors for the wedding breakfast and evening party.

What is the plan for the wedding day?

Check out the order of the day for all wedding timings.

Will there be a time gap while the room is being prepared for the sit-down wedding breakfast?

Between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM, the room will be set up for the wedding breakfast. Enjoy the drinks reception on the patio with sweet treats and African-inspired snacks, while we take part in a confetti throw and have family photos, all alongside great entertainment.

Will there be a time gap while the room is being prepared for the evening party?

Between 5:30 PM and 7:00 PM, the room will be prepped for the evening party. Freshen up if you’re staying overnight or hang out on the patio with entertainment. During this time, we will have the chance to capture any family or friend photos we may have missed earlier in the day and take a moment to relax before the evening festivities begin.

Are children and plus ones invited?

We’re keeping it cosy with about 60 guests, so only those named on the invitation can attend. Hope you understand!

Is there a specific dress code for the wedding?

Just come dressed to impress and ready to celebrate with us! If you'd like to wear cultural attire, we’d absolutely love for you to do so. Just don’t wear a white dress - save that for the bride.

Does the venue accept cash?

Unfortunately, Canada Lodge & Lake does not accept cash payments. The bar operates on a card-only basis.

Is smoking permitted at the venue?

Smoking is allowed in designated outdoor areas.

Will there be an open bar?

We won’t be having an open bar, so please plan to purchase your own drinks throughout the day. To celebrate, we’ve arranged a complimentary reception drink after the ceremony and a sparkling wine toast during speeches.

What type of food will be served at the wedding?

Our wedding menu is designed to celebrate both Caucasian and African cuisines, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all our guests. Food is such a meaningful part of the day, and it’s especially important to us that everyone feels welcomed and included. During the drink’s reception, we’ll be serving a delightful selection of sweet treats, including blondies, brownies, muffins, and seasonal fruits. We’re also excited to offer a little taste of Africa with small chops. For the three-course wedding breakfast, you will enjoy the dish selections you would have already chosen when RSVPing. During the evening celebration, we’ll feature authentic Nigerian dishes such as jollof rice, peppered chicken and turkey stew, alongside an informal pizza delivery out on the patio.

Will there be meal options for guests with dietary restrictions or allergies?

Absolutely! We’ve got you covered for dietary restrictions or allergies, as long as you let us know when you RSVP.

How will guests know where to sit for the wedding breakfast?

Find your name on the table plan for your assigned seat. Your name will be at your place setting.

Will there be name changes after the wedding?

Yes, Corrina will proudly take Olamide's surname and will be known as Mrs. Asamu.

Are guests allowed to take photos at the wedding and share on social media?

Yes, we’re happy for our guests to take and share photos as we celebrate together! We’d love for you to capture the special moments of the day and share them with friends and family. But during the ceremony, please be present for this intimate part of our wedding. We’ll have a photographer for official pics.

When can guests share wedding photos on social media?

Feel free to share your photos right away! Since all of our loved ones will be celebrating with us on the day, there are no surprises waiting for anyone. We’re excited to see your wonderful captures!

Is there a wedding hashtag?

Our wedding hashtag is #HappilyEverAsamu. We’d love for you to use it when sharing photos or memories from the day so we can all enjoy the special moments together.

Are guests expected to bring gifts to the wedding?

We are incredibly grateful that so many of you are travelling to celebrate with us- your presence truly is the greatest gift! Physical gifts are neither necessary nor expected. However, if you do insist on gifting us something, a cash contribution would mean so much to us, as we are saving for a trip to Nigeria at the end of the year to visit Olamide's parents. There will be a dedicated space on the day for cards and well-wishes.

Is overnight accommodation available at the venue?

Rooms have been reserved at Canada Lodge & Lake for guests who would like to stay overnight. If you have already informed us of your request for a room, the venue will have your name and room allocation on record. If you would like to book a room, but haven't yet done so then please contact the venue directly on 029 2089 2090 and confirm you are a guest at our wedding.

How do guests pay for overnight accommodation at the venue?

To secure your reservation, please contact the venue directly on 029 2089 2090 and confirm you are a guest at our wedding. The venue will take your contact details and card information. Payment will be charged a day prior to the wedding, on May 31.

What time is check-in and check-out for guests staying overnight at the venue?

Check-in is at 2.00 PM and check-out is at 10.30 AM. Please contact Canada Lodge & Lake directly if you require early check-in or late check-outs. Unfortunately, your room may not be available to freshen up before the ceremony. However, the toilet facilities at Canada Lodge & Lake will be open for use.

Why isn't it possible to book accommodation at the venue online?

Canada Lodge & Lake blocks out rooms online to prioritise bookings for wedding guests. You can call them directly on 029 2089 2090.

Will parking be available at the venue?

Yes, Canada Lodge & Lake offers free parking for guests.

Is it possible to leave cars parked overnight?

Yes, but please collect your car by midday the next day.

Is there anything to keep in mind when travelling to the venue?

Enter “Canada Lodge & Lake” directly into your sat nav or Google Maps, not the postcode. The postcode might lead you to farmland.

Will transportation be arranged for guests to and from the venue?

There will be a bus departing from Cardiff for your convenience. We noticed most people from Llanelli were arranging their own transport, and we found a great deal from the city centre, so it made sense to just cover Cardiff. Please check the travel information section for further details.

Will there be other events to attend on the wedding weekend?

We warmly invite all our guests, including those not staying overnight at the venue, to join us for breakfast the day after our wedding at Rhodri’s by the Lake (on site). We’ll be there from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, enjoying a leisurely breakfast and soaking in the peaceful surroundings before we set off on our honeymoon to the Forest of Dean.

I have more questions about the wedding, who can I contact?

If you have any questions or need to get in touch with us before the big day, please feel free to reach out! You can contact Olamide on 07823 892 348 or Corrina on 07476 175 325. We’re more than happy to receive a text or phone call, and we’d love to help with anything you might need.
