Our Wedding

Aarron and Olivia were first small friends at Little School when they were 3 years old. They had the same teacher. You may have been lucky to see a class picture with them standing right next to each other. Aarron was at Olivia's 4th birthday party at her first house in Mandeville. She had a pinata and the rule was that you only got 3 chances to swing with a blindfold. In a home video, which we still need to find, Aarron takes about 12 swings even though people are yelling at him to stop. He was pretty persistent, and we're not sure that has really changed. Fast forward a few years and the Buquois and Hodgmans got to know each other a little bit through Robert's and Andrew's sporting events. Fast forward a few more years and Aarron ended up going to St. Paul's and Olivia to SSA, brother and sister high schools on the Northshore. Olivia had a little crush on Aarron midway through high school because she thought it was cute that they used to be childhood friends and he was just cute and athletic. Olivia decided to be bold and ask Aarron to the SSA Sweetheart Dance in the winter time over text message with some pictures of decorated pieces of paper that said "will you go to sweetheart with me?".... Olivia waited a whole day and he texted back and said no... ok. A few weeks later, to Olivia's surprise, Aarron texted her while she was at track practice and asked her to come to their semifinal soccer game that weekend. Olivia had already planned to go... they won. A couple of weeks later, Aarron made some astronomical move and asked Olivia to *wear his jersey* to the *championship game* at Tad Gormley Stadium. Olivia wore the jersey. And wore a big jacket over it so no one would make a big deal about it. His mom didn't even know they were "friends" ... much less that she was there wearing his jersey. Aarron then asked Olivia to hang out one night and go to the movies. Olivia's parents, who were very nervous for Olivia to start going on dates, dropped her off to Aarron in the Target parking lot and told Olivia she wasn't allowed to go to the movies by herself with a boy. So Aarron and Olivia literally went to sit in the lobby of Tchefuncta Country Club (their wedding reception location---not on purpose but it's fitting) and talked for 10 minutes about the most boring things before deciding to leave. Olivia's mom, to this day, still thinks that was Olivia and Aarron's first date, but Aarron doesn't even chalk it up to that. Don't blame him. Olivia and Aarron lost touch after that... Shocking. It wasn't until Olivia was in her first year of PA school 7 years later when she was in a quarter life crisis and trying to decide where she would move after school. Would she find a future spouse? If so, where? She started praying for her future husband...whoever it may be. Her mom even sent her an article one night about praying for her future spouse. She went to mass that weekend with that prayer intention as her main focus. The very next night, Aarron Hodgman messaged Olivia Buquoi on Instagram and asked if she would go to a wedding with him for mutual high school friends. Random. BOLD. Olivia starts freaking out and texting all of her friends before even fully opening the message. Olivia opened the message. They went to get drinks the next week at Barley Oak when she was home for Thanksgiving break. Aarron didn't think that was a date either. It so was. He picked Olivia up from home and like... how is that not a date at 25 years old? They talked for 4 hours at Barley Oak and forgot to eat dinner. They ended the night at Butter Krisp for donuts, and he brought Olivia back home. They pretty much started dating after that and the rest is history. There have been many gifts from God in the past three years that only help prove that Olivia and Aarron were always meant to be together. They are so thankful for the support of each other and the support of all of you who surround them with love.
