Our story began in 2018 when, at the urging of our roommates, we went on a (first) first blind date at Ashley’s in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Brett was adamant at the time that he’d never date someone at the law school, but Olivia is no ordinary someone. After a year of working up the courage, Brett finally asked Olivia out again at the following year’s law school Halloween party. (Her exact words were “Shoot your shot, I guess.”) Sparks finally struck flame at our (second) first date at The Last Word speakeasy in Ann Arbor.

Since then, we’ve loved and supported each other through a global pandemic, remote law school, a cross-country move, two state bar examinations, and the ups and downs of life as young attorneys. We welcomed our wolfhound mix, Maven, into our family in January 2021. The three of us have been living our best lives in Los Angeles ever since with all the trips, treats, and adventures we could ever want.

Brett and Olivia were engaged to be married at a tiny mountain cabin in Idyllwild, California on December 3, 2022 with the sound of Christmas music and crackling fire in the background. Every year, Brett and Olivia get each other an ornament that resembles something good that happened that year. To Olivia’s surprise, her ornament she received from Brett on December 3 said “ENGAGED”! She looked up to see Brett on one knee, and it was the easiest yes of her life.
