We met at a party. A classic party surrounded by all our mutual friends, and yet we had never really met before. Although we had gone to the same school for 7 years, our paths never crossed.

Our friends and family would say it makes sense, I mean we ran in different crowds. At lunch, you could find me (Olivia) in the library or intramural sports, and you could find Alex in the parking lot with his friends or behind day n night up to no good. Although we had a few classes together, we were never really quote un-quote "friends."

But on February 19th 2017, the day after Alex got his braces off, we met officially for the first time. We hit it off right away and connected on so many things, but mainly our mutual love for family. We talked all night long, exchanged numbers and carried on with our lives.

Alex went home the next morning to call his mom and say "I think I'm in love."

The next few months were spent going on coffee dates, taking our dogs for walks and sneaking kisses in between my study sessions.

In late April, we made it official. We met each others family, and spent the summer kayaking, taking trips to the cabin and dancing under the stars in the back of his chevi.

I would describe the first two years of our relationship as a balancing act. In a lot of ways, our personalities are polar opposite. Alex is an extrovert with more friends than he can keep track of where as I am an introvert who is quite content keeping my own company. Alex is spontaneous and loves to live life by the seat of his pants, where as I am someone who needs to plan days in advance so I can work it around my busy schedule of working out, studying and planning for the future lol. So you can see where we may have butted heads. But all in all our love for family and our ability to communicate openly and authentically really made us the perfect pair. We forced each other out of our comfort zones and worked through life as a team.

In 2019, before the pandemic, we took a trip to Mexico with some of our friends and family. After dinner one evening we took a walk through the resort and stopped to take in the view. Little did I know Alex had a ring in his pocket the whole time. He pulled it out and made a promise that one day he would make me his wife (lol could you imagine if he proposed).

In 2020 we moved in together for the first time. We spent the next two years finishing school, building our careers, making memories and arguing about furniture.

In December of 2021 our offer was accepted on a cute little house in the hart and we began our lives as home owners. With bills, changing jobs and countless social events to attend to, marriage was not on my mind at all.

In June of 2022, I was shocked when Alex took me on a little get away to Heart Lake (awww). We made dinner, built a fire and he got down on one knee.

After 7 wonderful years together, we are so beyond excited to celebrate our marriage in Mexico, the place where Alex promised he would make me his wife. We can't wait to be surrounded by our closest people to witness the merging of our two families and the love we share for each other.
