Adam and Olivia met in 2020 during their first semester at William & Mary Law School. Their study group brought them together for many hours, and they quickly became friends. Although they first only discussed the horrors of Torts and Contract law, they quickly began to share their love of spending time with friends, long walks in colonial Williamsburg, and cold beers by the firepit.
After a year of being best friends, Adam thought that the best thing to do was ask Olivia on a date. She did not agree. She thought that being best friends meant you had to stay just friends. But Adam only grew to care about Olivia more. And much to her surprise, Olivia realized she shared those feelings. So while they lived and worked in Washington, DC during the summer of 2022, Olivia and Adam finally went on their first date to drinks on a rooftop. Throughout the summer, Olivia realized dating your best friend was a wonderful idea.
Olivia brought Adam home to Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving that year to meet her family. He loved seeing her with her close family and friends, and Adam knew that he wanted to be with Olivia forever as part of their family together.
They spent the rest of their 3L year continuing to make law school fun by studying together, going on dates, and most importantly cooking dinner together every Wednesday. As graduation approached, Olivia and Adam brought both of their families together to celebrate all their accomplishments. After graduation, as they had done the past three years, they studied together for the bar exam and cheered each other on when they passed!
Although they dreaded a year of long-distance while Adam clerked in Louisville, they planned to see each other as often as possible. Adam suggested that Olivia spend the fall with him in Louisville; when Olivia agreed, he immediately began plans to propose.
Adam wanted it to be a surprise and began to plan a casual brunch date. Unknown to Olivia, there was a scheme. They walked a meticulously timed route to brunch along the Ohio River. Adam stopped in a park, got down on one knee, and proposed to Olivia with the perfect ring. He was so nervous and excited that he forgot his cheesy planned lines. All he could say was how much he loved Olivia and that he wanted to spend every moment of his life with her—forever. Olivia only remembers blurs of excitement until she said "yes" and looked up to see their friends coming out of the bushes and from behind statues with cameras!
The rest of the day was spent cherishing this moment they had looked forward to. Brunch was not even a rouse—the hostess was ready with champagne when they arrived. Olivia wanted to call family and friends right away, but Adam insisted the day should be for them alone, little did she know he had many more surprises in store. On the walk home they stopped at Angel’s Envy Distillery where a tour guide was also prepared for celebrations with extra tastings. That evening the newly engaged couple walked to get pizza to celebrate with two close friends. When they arrived at the restaurant Olivia saw that Adam had gathered her parents, his family, and many friends to celebrate! It was a perfect day.
Now Olivia and Adam are in Washington, DC where they revel in living their lives together. They look forward to dancing, laughing, and celebrating with their family and friends on the day they forever say “I do.” With hearts of joy and thankfulness, they cannot wait to celebrate with everyone who made this moment possible!
