A) WestJet, Air Canada, and Sunwing offer direct flights from cities like Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton to Puerto Vallarta. Direct flights typically take around 5 hours. Booking flights three to four months before the travel date can help secure lower fares.
We highly suggest setting up an alert on Google Flights for the date range you are looking to travel. Our favourite app to use is hopper :)
Q) Which airport should I fly into?
A) Fly into Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR), which serves Puerto Vallarta.
Q) How far is the hotel from the airport?
The Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa is just a 10 car ride from the airport! In our experience, Uber is the easiest way to travel here.
Q) Will there be a shuttle from the Aiport to the Hotel?
A) If enough Kelowna folk book on the same direct flight, Yes! The couple will arrange a shuttle for us all.
Q) What accommodations are recommended or reserved for guests?
A) The couple have reserved a block of rooms at a discounted rate at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa! Contact the wedding party for the couple for your booking link!
If you wish to add the extra all inclusive rate, you can do this upon check in.
Q) How do I book my stay?
A) You can book your stay directly through the hotel’s website, using the booking link provided by the couple.
Q) What are the check-in and check-out times for the hotel?
A) Check-in is 3 PM, and check-out is typically at 12 PM.
Q) Is the hotel all-inclusive?
A) The block of rooms is reserved at the European (non-all inclusive) rate but guests can add the all-inclusive option at an additional cost.
Q) Are there alternative accommodation options nearby?
A) Yes, Puerto Vallarta offers a range of accommodations from luxury resorts to budget-friendly hotels and vacation rentals like Airbnb.
Q) Are taxis or ride-shares readily available in the area?
A) Yes, taxis are easy to find, and Uber operates in Puerto Vallarta as well. The prices are generally reasonable.
Q) What travel documents do I need to enter Mexico?
A) You need a valid Canadian passport. A tourist card (FMM) is also required, which you’ll receive on the plane or at the airport upon arrival.
Q) Do I need a visa to visit Mexico?
A) No, Canadian citizens do not need a visa for stays up to 180 days in Mexico.

A) Puerto Vallarta has a tropical climate. Expect comfortable temperatures ranging from 20°C to 25°C.
Q) Is the wedding ceremony on the beach, what should I wear?!
A) The ceremony is on the beach, sandals or barefoot-friendly footwear is recommended. “Beach Formal” or “Tropical Elegant” attire, meaning light and breezy outfits works great! The boat right back may be a little chilly, so consider bring something light to throw on!

A) There may be a welcome party, rehearsal dinner, or post-wedding brunch. These events typically have a more casual dress code, like resort wear or smart casual.

Q) I heard travellers can get sick when traveling there
A) In Puerto Vallarta, as in many travel destinations, being cautious about certain foods can help you avoid getting sick. Here are some types of food you might want to avoid or be cautious with:
Street Food: While street food can be delicious and tempting, it may not always adhere to the highest hygiene standards. If you do try it, choose vendors who are busy and have a high turnover of food, which usually indicates fresher ingredients.
Raw Seafood: Sushi, ceviche, and other dishes containing raw seafood can pose a risk if not prepared with proper hygiene or if the seafood isn’t fresh. It’s safer to stick with cooked seafood.
Fruits and Vegetables: Fruits and vegetables that haven’t been washed properly might carry harmful bacteria. Although tempting, do not eat fruit from a market or street vendor!

A) The dinner will be a large buffet, with heaps of options, no matter what dietary restrictions you have!

Q) What are the must-see attractions or activities in the area?
A) Exploring the Romantic Zone is a MUST in the day and at night! Take a stroll down the Malecón boardwalk, visit Los Arcos Marine Park for snorkeling, or take a boat tour to Marietas Islands!
Q) Are there any group excursions or activities planned for guests?
A) The couple might organize group activities like a boat cruise or a guided tour. Check the itinerary or ask the couple.
Q) What are the best local restaurants or bars to try?
A) Try Margarita Grill for THE BEST margaritas in Puerto Vallarta (located in the Romantic Zone) Café des Artistes for fine dining, Joe Jack’s Fish Shack for casual seafood, and El Dorado for beachfront dining. For bars, check out La Vaquita or Mandala for nightlife.
Q) Are there opportunities for water sports or beach activities?
A) Yes, Puerto Vallarta offers many water sports, including snorkeling, scuba diving, paddleboarding, and jet skiing. Many resorts also offer beach volleyball and yoga.

A) Puerto Vallarta is generally one of the safest places for tourists in Mexico, especially in well-populated areas. As with any destination, stay aware of your surroundings and avoid isolated areas at night.

A) English is commonly spoken in Puerto Vallarta, especially in tourist areas. However, downloading Google Translate on your phone is very helpful.

A) Walking is easy in many parts of Puerto Vallarta, especially in the downtown area. Taxis, Uber, and local buses are also convenient options.
