What should I wear?
Our dress code for the wedding is formal.
"This dress code is slightly less formal than a black-tie wedding. So for men, a tuxedo isn't required, but can still be worn if preferred. If opting for a suit, however, a formal dark suit, white shirt, and a tie are acceptable. For women, the outfit choices are a floor-length gown, a fancy cocktail dress, or a dressy pantsuit" (https://www.brides.com/story/wedding-dress-code-explained).
We kindly ask guests not to wear burgundy/cranberry red as this colour is reserved for the wedding party.
Please reach out if you are concerned about what to wear.
Where should we park?
For any guest who has booked a room with the hotel, you will receive one parking space in The Gate Houses' underground garage. Typically in December, Niagara on the Lake has free street parking. In the event they don't do it this year, we advise all other guests to utilize free street parking on Johnson Street. Gate St. & Victoria St. are also free past Johnson. These spaces are first come, first serve!
What time should I get there?
Doors open at 3:30 pm and the ceremony starts at 4:00 pm.
We recommend arriving around 3:15 pm to be able to find parking.
Are kids invited to the wedding?
While we love that you want to bring your children, only Matt's nieces and nephews will attend the wedding. Please leave your children with a trusted adult and come have a fun night!
What do I do with my coat?
The Gate House has a coat rack with wooden black hangers for guests to hang their coats.
Can I bring a physical gift?
We love that you are thinking of giving us a physical gift. However, we will have limited space in our luggage travelling back to BC. We are kindly asking that if guests wish to give us a gift, to consider contributing to our life fund with cash.
Where else can I stay?
Niagara on the Lake has many cute and locally owned Bed and Breakfasts, Air Bnbs, as well as small boutique hotels. Even the Irish Harp and the Angel Inn have rooms you can stay in!
