In May of 2020, Ethan and Olivia met through a mutual friend (shoutout Emily). We knew there was something special about each other right away and knew this was part of God’s plans for us. In the beginning of our relationship, we had to work around covid shutdowns and get creative with navigating quarantine by doing outdoor dates and day trips around Michigan. We took a trip to Mackinaw City, all to find the whole place to be closed due to covid and the winter season. We made the most of our trip, getting a warm pasty and hiking through the pine forests that surrounded the area. Olivia always wants to have long, meaningful conversations during the entirety of our long road trips, whereas Ethan would rather listen to his favorite sports podcast or his new playlist he created after a bit. When we first started dating, we would facetime each other and sometimes it would go into the early hours of the morning. Our parents could see how giddy we were with each other, and still are now. Every Thursday we would go to Fazolis and have our lunch special together. We both had our usual orders and sat in the same spot at our favorite table each time. If that table was taken, we went through the drive thru, because finding another table wasn’t possible. Although we have some different hobbies, we enjoy traveling, working out, cooking, going to concerts, hanging out with friends/family, and playing games together. In spring of 2022 we booked our biggest adventure yet, a trip to Europe in May of 2023. Traveling through Italy, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. Our adventure was spectacular and we have started a tradition where we collect ornaments from every country/major vacation we take together. The last full day of the trip they went up Mount Titlis in Switzerland. At 11,000 feet Ethan got on one knee and proposed to Olivia, looking over the scenic swiss mountains. We were so excited and started facetiming our close family and friends, except we forgot about the 6 hour time difference. Luckily everyone was happy to be woken up at 6 am to hear the great news. When we got back from Europe, we got right on to planning the wedding and our honeymoon to Hawaii. We had our engagement photos taken at Rosy Mound in Grand Haven, a place meaningful to us where we would visit every summer and winter. We are excited to continue to take adventures together and continue to see all God’s wonderful creation.
