The Love Story

photo

Olivia and Caleb were actually social media friends for a couple of years... but never met. Even when they both lived in Anderson for a while, they never ran into each other.

They still laugh about the first exchange they ever had online. It was in 2018 when Caleb sent a Facebook message to Olivia asking about her photography. Olivia kept the response strictly professional and then nothing happened again until the summer of 2019.

In June or July of 2019, Olivia's friend put her on a dating app first as a joke, but then she decided to actually give it a try for a short time. Caleb was a match.

They were both interested in each other, but neither could tell through the app. Caleb didn't ask her on a date and Olivia soon deleted the app.

Fast forward to January 2020.

Olivia just moved to Greenville and really needed community. When she considered finding a new church, the first church she checked out was Take Heart Church. One person she knew went there and gave her a call about wanting to visit. Although, Olivia remembered in the back of her mind that Caleb said he went this same church, she didn't think much of it.

When that Sunday arrived, Caleb was supposed to be going to Charleston. But when he woke up that morning, he just changed his mind. Instead, he got up and went to church.

When Olivia was in the lobby and Caleb saw her, he just stopped.

Caleb had a crush on Olivia for a while, but never thought he would get a chance to meet her. At some point in the past when he felt like there was no way it'll happen, he turned to God and asked for help. Time had gone by and there was no answer.

But then he saw her in the lobby of his very own church.

He felt like God was finally saying "here's your chance"...

He went up to introduce himself and Olivia knew exactly who he was. The pastor (who was also a long time friend) saw the exchange and later asked him "Who's THAT? Are you going to ask her out for lunch?" And Caleb said he was planning on it!

Olivia's host saw the quick chemistry and asked him "Would you join us for lunch?" The two looked at each other and Caleb of course said he'd love to.

During lunch Olivia thought to herself, "there's no way God is answering my prayer this quickly".

You see, Caleb wasn't the only one who asked God for help.

Just 5 days before that Sunday, Olivia was sitting on her bed praying to God. She knew God was good and she knew she could go to Him with anything, including requests about her future husband. She sat with her journal open and she began writing to the Lord about a handful of specific things she'd like in a husband. She knew she could trust God with whatever happened next, even if that meant waiting for a long time. But she also knew that she had to get out of her own way. Olivia told the Lord she would trust Him with who God has for her and she would be more open to saying yes.

Caleb asked Olivia if she would go on a date with him and even though she was hesitant, she also remembered what she prayed. Trust God. So she said yes.

A month later, Caleb asked Olivia to be his girlfriend.

They fell in love quickly and dated through a pandemic....

And after dating for a year and 3 months... He proposed!

The proposal was at the lovely Rock Quarry in downtown Greenville. He hired a professional service (Picnic & Company) to create a beautifully aesthetic picnic scene in front of a waterfall, complete with flowers, blankets, pillows, a charcuterie board, champagne, music, and a sign that said "I have found the one whom my soul loves".

Olivia immediately sobbed, and when he pulled out the ring and dropped down on one knee, he said "I knew the moment I met you...".

Caleb and Olivia are so excited to continue doing life in marriage while trusting God with whatever comes next. They invite family and friends to join them in also supporting them and praying for their journey.
