The Ceremony We will be having a Sikh wedding ceremony, also known as an Anand Karaj which translates into " A blissful union" in which we will be married in front of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, which is the holy scriptures of our faith.  The morning will begin with both sides gathering at Newlands Golf Course around 915-930am, where we will have refreshments and light breakfast food for all our guests( pastries and fruit etc. ) After this we will go into a ceremony outside called the "Milni" this is where the introductions of both sides of the family are done, and a small prayer to bless the day, the union, and the journey we are beginning as husband and wife, and as a new family.  After this we will move into the main conservatory, where the ceremony will be taking place. You will see people coming forward and bowing and placing a money offering in front of our holy scriptures, this is absolutely not mandatory, and we ask that you only do what you are fully comfortable with. The technology of the bow is simply a sign of respect and an open heart and mind. After you are welcome to sit anywhere you'd like in the hall. There will be chairs to wards the back of the hall to accommodate for anyone who cannot sit on the floor.  Once everyone is seated, Ryan and Onkar will enter one after the other and the ceremony will begin led by Onkar's father who will then explain the entirety of the ceremony and its significance to the congregation.  After the ceremony is complete, Ryan and Onkar will move to another spot where everyone is welcome to come get a picture and congratulate the couple. After this there a vegetarian Indian lunch will be served for all the guests to enjoy.  That will conclude the ceremony portion of the day, we will be all finished and done by around 1pm, after this we will have a break from 1-6pm where you are welcome to go and enjoy the town and we will come back to the same venue for the reception for 6pm! Some things to note: Attire is semi-formal to formal, its whatever you are most comfortable in, just keep in mind you will be sitting on the floor (it will be padded) so you will want to wear something that is comfortable for you to manoever around in. We also ask that you cover your head as a sign or respect and as per our customs to  be graceful of the space we are in, so head scarves will be provided for everyone outside the hall before you enter. Ladies are more than welcome  to bring a scarf of your own if you'd like. While this is a sacred space, as long as you come in with an open mind and heart, and good intentions, there is absolutely nothing you can do to offend the space. We want everyone to be comfortable and enjoy the ceremony and the uniting of two souls, and two families, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask! We are more than willing to answer any and all questions and inquiries you may have to help make this day more special for everyone! Please note- consumption of alcohol and smoking is prohibited on site for the morning ceremony.

We ask that guests arrive to the venue for the reception at 630pm.

Attire for the reception will be formal.
