Take a drive to Shramore

Picture of Take a drive to Shramore

I may be bias but Shramore is one of the most idyllic places in the world. So quiet and tranquil, the only noises you will hear for miles are those of the sheep bleating or the rivers and streams trickling down the mountains.

Shramore is just a 25 minute drive from Mulranny.

Croagh Patrick

Croagh Patrick is considered to be Ireland’s holiest mountain, and renowned for its Patrician Pilgrimage in honor of Saint Patrick, Ireland’s patron Saint.

It was at the summit of the mountain that Saint Patrick fasted for forty days in 441 AD. The summit of this hike also offers tremendous panoramic views of the County Mayo landscape. The hike is just under half a mile and on average takes about 2 hours to climb up and one and a half hours to descend.

Whether you've climbed the mountain or not, you must pop into Campbell's pub at the foot of the Reek. It's the best pint of Guinness Ruairí has ever had!!

Visit Westport Town

Picture of Visit Westport Town

Picturesque and flower filled, few towns in Ireland can match Westport’s charisma and continental flavor with cheerful, multi coloured shop fronts jostling for attention and an attractive selection of shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants. Not only a town of innate beauty, it is also steeped in history.

Pop into Matt Molloy's for a pint of Guinness and to hear live traditional Irish Music seven nights a week.

Westport is only a 30 minute drive from Mulranny.

Achill Island

Picture of Achill Island

Situated at the heart of the Wild Atlantic Way, Achill Island typifies the raw wilderness of the Atlantic coastline. Soaring cliffs, windswept beaches, rich heritage and deserted boglands make Achill Island the perfect antidote to urban life. Achill Island boasts some of the finest beaches in Ireland, including no fewer than five Blue Flag beaches.
