Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

The journey that brought us together began in 2018 when Osi slid in Chidera’s DM on Instagram. Osi lived in NY and Chichi lived in NJ. Due to various circumstances, our first date didn't occur until several months later. Osi planned a dinner date in NY and that night was filled with laughter, good banter and a sense of wonder. At the time, we thought that this date marked the beginning of the incredible adventure ahead of us.

Unfortunately, we faced challenges that hindered the progression of our relationship, leading us to take some time apart. During our time apart, we both deepened our relationship with the Lord and sought His guidance, plus Osi relocated to Dallas. However, in His own time, the Lord brought our paths together once more during Chichi’s visit to an extended family in Dallas in July 2023, allowing us to reconnect. We spent time together, and the laughter that once filled our hearts returned more vibrantly than before. With Chichi in New Jersey and Osi in Texas, we understood that making this work would require intentionality, communication, and perseverance. We committed ourselves to meeting as frequently as possible, whether it was in Texas, New Jersey, or New York; we would take flights to spend time with one another. By December 2023, we realized we were meant for each other, and we made a promise to exclusively commit to each other. Navigating a long-distance relationship tested our faith in God, and our patience, but it also taught us to be resilient. Each meeting was an adventure, every date a fresh exploration, and every embrace was enveloped in comfort and peace.

Less than a year later, we shared the news with our friends and family that we were taking a significant next step towards a life long commitment.

With every challenge we've faced, we’ve continued to learn and grow in love with each other. Our journey of discovering learning to mesh two different personalities is ongoing, and we remain committed to learning daily what it means to be a partner and to also love each other as Christ loved the church. Our narrative is being crafted every day, with each chapter filled with adventure, love, lots of highs and some lows. All withstanding, we look forward, alongside our support systems, to embarking on the next chapter together. Osi and Destiny ❤️
