Our Story:

Owen and Abby met during the fall of 2020 while at school together at Loras College. Owen was working as a photographer for the college and went to photograph one of the many events on campus. It was a rainy Friday night and he was taking photos at a Wahlert football game. Owen received a text from his boss to head over to an event so he went over to Christ the King Chapel for the Spiritual Life Welcome Night. Little did he know that was where he would meet his future wife! Owen walked into the church in his full rain gear with his rain poncho on. Abby was the president of the Core Team for Spiritual Life and was in charge of putting on the event. Owen remembers that he was in awe of the very cute curly haired girl that looked very familiar (he had taken photos of her at Mass about 3 weeks earlier). They both had masks on because of the COVID-19 pandemic and he couldn’t see anything besides her big brown eyes and the curly hair. He remembers leaving the church thinking about the curly haired girl. He didn’t have enough courage that night to talk to her but went home regretting that he didn’t introduce himself.

A couple of days later Owen got an interesting follow request on Instagram from the curly haired girl named Abby. He was so happy to see that she had noticed him too! He immediately turned to some of his most trusted companions to construct a message to send to her. He was so scared to send it but had a special feeling about sending her a message, so he did. He turned his phone off while he headed out to practice and came back with a message from Abby! They texted each other for the next couple days and before they knew it, Owen was heading over to her apartment to watch a Chicago Bears game. He doesn't remember a thing about the Bears game, but he does remember the great time he had talking with her for the next 5 hours and getting to know one another. A month later they were officially dating and 2.5 years later they got engaged! They can’t wait to get married at the place where they first met and where they got engaged.
