Our Wedding

We met in 2017 and began to start a friendship our junior year of high school in Mrs. Jordan's English class. However, our story actually starts even further back in 2004 at Gods Little Kingdom Preschool. We have gone to the same school since we were about 4 years old.

In 2018 we attended our senior year prom and were named Prom King and Queen!

In 2018 we graduated high school together and in 2022 we gradated college together.

Throughout our college years, we made so many memories with our friends and family at OSU! Many birthdays were celebrated with our OSU Tailgate crew!

On Oct 12th, 2024 in a field of sunflowers, Owen proposed with Bethany's beloved grandmothers "Mimi" engagement ring purchased by her Grandfather "Papa" in 1959.&nbsp;The ring is a way to have Mimi and Papa with us in spirit at the wedding. Owen will be wearing his fathers engagement ring to honor his family and loved ones as well. Both rings are a very special symbol to Owen and Bethany of the love that built them and the love they have for each other.

Our Story

Filipino Chord and Veil Ceremony 

During the ceremony we will be participating in a Traditional Filipino Chord and Veil Ceremony. Bethany and Owen will be honored and supported by several family members to assist in performing the ceremony. The Veil and Cord ceremony is a cherished Filipino tradition that&nbsp;symbolizes unity, protection, and the enduring bond of marriage.&nbsp; The Veil, often a lace fabric, is draped over the couple, signifying their unity and the love that will envelop them.&nbsp;It also signifies the couple's spiritual covering and the blessings upon their union, with the veil acting as a shield of love and commitment The Cord, typically a silk lasso, is looped around them in a figure-eight, representing their eternal bond and commitment.&nbsp;These symbols are a poignant reminder of the couple's journey together as one.&nbsp; The Candles symbolize the Light of Christ, representing the couple's light and the new life they are embarking on together. Two individual candles are lit, which the couple then uses to light a larger, unity candle, symbolizing their union and the joining of their families.&nbsp; The Coins, often 13 in number, represent prosperity and the couple's promise to share their worldly goods and support each other.&nbsp;They may be passed between the couple to symbolize their commitment to share their resources.&nbsp;

Traditional Filipino Money Dance

The Filipino Money Dance, is&nbsp;a traditional wedding custom where guests pin money onto the bride and groom as they dance.&nbsp;This joyful tradition symbolizes blessings, well wishes, and a helping hand for the couple as they begin their married life, representing their future prosperity.&nbsp;It's a way for guests to express their love and support while contributing to the couple's financial start.&nbsp; How It's Done:Guests line up to pin cash money on the bride while dancing with her, and female guests do the same for the groom.&nbsp; How To Participate:It is encouraged that any guest who wants to contribute and participate bring cash of any bill size to dance with Bethany and Owen. All guests are welcome to dance and you do not have to be Filipino to participate in the tradition!
