Paige and Sam met in Florida while working with the Families in Need of Services Program through the North Carolina Outward Bound School. During a quiet evening on base, they first connected while watching a 90's T.V. show called "Are You Afraid of The Dark?" in a damp and questionably cared for cabin affectionately called "The Slounge".

In July 2017, Paige instructed another 20-day, flatwater canoeing, experiential education course; the very same course for which Sam was a Course Director. As was the case with some of the crews at FINS, the crew was struggling to achieve their goals. Sam visited to provide help, but they quickly determined he needed to stay to support KLF268.

The students on the course sensed something even before Paige or Sam. One day, a student asked Paige, "Are you dating any of these guys (meaning the other staff) P?". Paige, looking to avoid accusations of impropriety, answered, "None of them make enough money".

Following their first kiss at the Caribbean Club in Key Largo, they've managed to stick it out through a pandemic, an MA Program, multiple cross-country moves, and many more life struggles. They are currently both in school and working full-time, but enjoy camping, cooking, and watching 80s/90s Sci-Fi & Horror movies.
