How do we get to the ceremony?
Derek and Paige have chosen to exchange their vows on Madeline Island at Big Bay State Park at Big Bay Point (see map and directions below).
With that in mind, attendees will need to take the ferry from Bayfield, WI to Madeline Island on the day of the wedding. The ferry schedule can be viewed here: https://madferry.com/ferry-schedule. We recommend carpooling with others attending the ceremony; ferrying across in a vehicle will be necessary to ensure that you are able to get to Big Bay State Park as the park is on the opposite end of the island from the ferry station. We recommend that you take a ferry no later 2:30 to ensure you arrive for the ceremony on time.
If you have never been to Madeline Island, you may want to head over to the island early to do some exploring before the ceremony which starts at 3:30pm in Big Bay State Park.
How do we find the ceremony location?
Please see the photo below for information regarding the ceremony location which is Big Bay Point inside Big Bay State Park (do NOT go to Big Bay Town Park).
Derek and Paige will be on the 2:30pm ferry Madeline Island. If you are concerned about finding the ceremony location, please plan to take this ferry as well. You can then follow Derek and Paige to the ceremony location from the ferry station.
Directions to Big Bay Point:
Address: 2402 Hagen Rd, La Pointe, WI 54850
1. Enter the STATE park (not town park) and pay the vehicle state park daily pass fee
2. Turn right onto Haines Rd and follow until it turns into Wilderness Rd. (You will take a right shown to stay on Haines Rd.)
3. Stay on this road until it dead ends at Big Bay Point. Park in the parking lot and wait for all guests.
What is the dress code?
Derek and I want you to be comfortable in what you're wearing and you certainly don't need to spend a lot of money on a new outfit in order to celebrate with us. That being said, we would love it if you took this opportunity to dress up a little with us to celebrate and enjoy the occasion!
What kind of footwear should I wear?
Great question! The ceremony will be within Big Bay State Park and there will be a small hike to the ceremony location. Please plan accordingly and wear shoes that you feel comfortable walking a short distance in. We highly recommend flats for this portion of the day but we trust you to make a wise shoe choice for yourself.
Will there be alcohol at the wedding?
Yes. There will be a hosted Champagne toast during dinner as well as a cash bar with beer, wine, and cocktails available if you would like additional drinks. There will also be non-alcoholic beverages available. Please be advised that you will be responsible for transportation to your home/lodging following the reception so please drink responsibly.
What if it rains?
The ceremony is set to take place outdoors. We highly recommend that you bring an umbrella for each person in your party in the event that there is rain. We do have a pavilion in the town park reserved as a last resort which we will move to in the event that weather is severe or rain is heavy.
Is there anything planned for Saturday evening?
Derek and Paige will be arriving in Bayfield on Saturday and plan to have a casual dinner at Portside at 7:30pm. Whoever is in town that evening is welcome to join. We have attached the menu for Portside which includes pricing so that you can review ahead of time if you desire. Please reach out to Derek or Paige with questions.

Do you have a gift registry?
Derek and I are truly thrilled that you are taking time out of your lives to come help us celebrate our marriage. We know that everyone is traveling from out of town and we appreciate that more than you know. We do not have a gift registry; your presence is the perfect gift.
Will I need cash?
We recommend that you bring some cash to pay for the state park entry fee. The ferry can be paid with cash or card.
