October 2023: Paige hosted a party for the release of 1989 Taylor's Version. She invited a fellow Swiftie--Bryson. Not wanting to be the only guy there, he invited Johnny to come along. Johnny wasn't that interested in going, but against his better judgment, he went, knowing there would probably be food there. While at the party, he noticed the hostess, a girl named Paige, was kinda cute. After the party, Paige texted Bryson for Johnny's number so she could invite the boys to the pumpkin patch the next day. She called her mom the next morning and told her how the party went. She said, "there was this guy named Johnny there--he's funny. I want to be friends with him." The girls and guys all went to the pumpkin patch and Johnny asked, "So what are you guys doing tomorrow?" The friend group was formed, and they all ended up hanging out every day, which complicated things. As everyone knows, it's risky to date someone from your friend group.

November 2023: Johnny wouldn't stop texting Paige and kept asking her out on dates. Paige was concerned that the friend group would be ruined if she dated him and it didn't work out. She was also planning to serve a mission for our church and would be leaving for 18 months, so she wasn't looking to get involved in a relationship and then have to leave.

December 2023: Johnny finally convinced Paige to go on a date, and they went rock climbing. It was a mediocre date that didn't really amount to much at the time.

Paige came home for winter break and assured her family she wasn't interested in this Johnny kid, but for some reason, she wouldn't stop talking about him.

January 2024: Paige came back to BYU-Idaho from winter break. Paige and Johnny saw each other every day as their friend group continued to hang out. After the date and all the texts over winter break, Johnny resigned himself to the fact that they were just going to be friends. But as he took a step back, Paige began to realize she was gaslighting herself about not liking him. On January 26, the friends all went out to eat for Johnny's birthday and then went back to watch a movie. Paige sat herself next to Johnny. He was tired, so he put his head on the pillow behind her. Paige moved the pillow so his head ended up on her shoulder. The movie was starting, and Johnny joked, "there is a sad part in this movie. I might cry." Paige took his hand and said, "Don't worry, I'll hold your hand."

The next day, Johnny was confused. Paige hadn't really showed much interest before, but now suddenly she was cuddling with him and holding his hand??? He texted her that he wanted to talk. He came over to her apartment and told her he was feeling confused. He told her he had liked her last semester, but had accepted that it seemed they would just be friends. Paige let him know that she was starting to have feelings for him, but because she was planning on going on a mission, she didn't want to date just one person. So she suggested they date each other, but also date other people too. Johnny was fine with that, but let her know that after she held his hand, he went home that night and couldn't sleep because he was so happy. He said she could date other people, but he only wanted to date her.

February 2024: Paige tried to date other people, but she ended up always just going on dates with Johnny. For instance, a guy named Paul from her class asked her to go to the campus date night with him, but then he got the flu and had to cancel. Paige ended up going with Johnny. On February 20, Johnny said to Paige, "Hey, so is there any chance I can be your boyfriend?" Paige said, "Probably this much (holding her thumb and pointer finger really close together). I'll have to pray about it." The next day, 2/21/24, after Paige had prayed about it and felt peace, Johnny came over. Paige asked Johnny to be her boyfriend. They discussed that Johnny would 100% support her going on a mission. He even helped her fill out her papers.

April 2024: Paige was almost finished with her mission papers, but didn't feel right about it. She decided to pray about it again, and felt that a mission wasn't the right path for her at that time. She told Johnny about it, and he wanted to make sure that she knew he would support her either way. But secretly, he was super happy he wouldn't have to say goodbye.

June 2024: Johnny started fasting and praying to know if this was the right relationship. Then one day he came over to her apartment and it seemed that Paige had a glow about her. He felt very strongly that she was "the one." Meanwhile, Paige was feeling that she wanted to be with Johnny forever. She prayed about it and felt so much peace. So she tried to hint by saying things like, "What if we're together forever?" to which Johnny responded, "I don't think that's long enough." Eventually, Paige told Johnny that she wanted to marry him and then said, "well do you want to marry me too?" He said, "Obviously!"

August 2024: Johnny came to visit Paige's family and proposed at the top of the Duquesne Incline. Paige said YES! And here we are. We can't wait to celebrate with everyone on June 12, 2025!
