Many love stories take place over several years, this one is no different. Paige and Spencer met early on in life. Paige recalls attending the same social gathering as Spencer while they were both in high school. Although the two did not go to the same high school nor hang out with the same people, Paige remembers Spencer calling her out by name. In true Paige fashion, she brushed him off.

Fast forward several years, Spencer moved into his home in Worthington in 2016. Paige, a standout athlete at DWU, lived right around the corner but the two never crossed paths. Paige would frequently go for runs in the neighborhood but never knew that Spencer lived in the corner house.

After chiropractic school, Paige moved back to Worthington to open her chiropractic clinic. She opened her clinic in July of 2022. During the same summer, Spencer began his first position in administration for ISD 518. On the side, Spencer bartended at the Sports Page in Adrian while Paige dominated on the sand volleyball court at the A&T Tap.

During the summer of 2023, Spencer began a new position as principal. With that move and the Sports Page changing ownership, Spencer decided it was time to end his tenure as the best mixologist in SW Minnesota. He decided to work one more August night before the start of the school year, the Adrian Community United celebration. Fresh off a volleyball sweep earlier in the week at the Tap, Paige asked her teammates if they had any fun plans for the weekend. Yoli invited Paige to join her and Nolan for an evening in Adrian. During most events at the Sports Page, Spencer would bartend inside. This night was no different. As the night moved on, in walked Yoli, Nolan, and Paige. The three sat down at the bar for a while before heading out back to listen to the live music. While inside, Paige and Spencer hit it off! After the three headed out back, Spencer was determined to stoke the fire. Spencer went out back to "help" serve cocktails. He wasn't much help as he sat and talked to Paige. After the music ended, everyone made their way inside the bar and Spencer found himself behind the bar talking to Paige again. By that time, Spencer was told he was off the clock because he was doing more flirting than bartending. The two stayed up and talked all throughout the night and into the morning. From there, Spencer wanted to continue to get to know Paige. He was giddy thinking he out-kicked his coverage.

During MEA break in October, Spencer was working in his office when the gymnastics coach walked into his office. Spencer got to know Joni through coaching and being her daughter's favorite teacher through school. Joni bragged in Spencer's office about how she was good at setting the perfect couples up. Spencer reminded her that he was still single and the true test would be if she could find him a match. Joni went on to talk about how she knew the perfect person for him. Joni went on about how she was smart, owned her own business, pretty, funny, athletic, etc. She went on to say Paige Kinley. Spencer smiled politely and stated he already tried and failed. Joni was determined.

During gymnastics season, Joni made similar comments to Paige. She talked about how she knew the perfect guy, he owned his own house, had a great job, had a car, is extremely hilarious, makes bald people look good, and is a genuine human. Paige continued to brush it off. Finally, in the middle of January after a gymnastics meet, Paige finally gave in to the gymnastic coaches' request for her to invite Spencer out with them for a post-meet celebration. Spencer was very nervous. There was a spot right next to Paige for him. Spencer didn't want to make the situation any more awkward than it already felt, so he spent much of his time talking to others at the table. Spencer thought he handled it well, Paige was not impressed that he didn't seem interested. Spencer was given another shot a few weeks after. They invited him out again. He spent more time talking to Paige. The next day, Spencer watched the NFL divisional championship games in Sibley with his friends. Paige had just gotten done coaching SWAGS and was resting at her parents. Spencer was nervous, but he took his shot and invited her down to Sibley to watch the game with his friends. Paige played hard to get for a while but finally gave in and agreed to come. Spencer drove back to Worthington to pick Paige up and drove them back down to Sibley. Paige fit in very well with Spencer's friends. During the next two weeks, Spencer and Paige talked non-stop. Spencer invited Paige to watch the Super Bowl with him and his friends in Sibley. After the game, Spencer and Paige stayed up talking over a few cold beverages. After Spencer had enough liquid courage, he asked Paige to date him and she said yes!

Over the next few months, Paige spent many days at Spencer's house. Before they knew it, Paige had moved in. Spencer and Paige enjoyed the summer together before fall and winter arrived. Living together came easy for them. This was big for Spencer because he does not like change and had lived alone for the last 8 years. As the new year approached, Spencer knew that Paige was the woman he wanted to marry.

During December of 2024, Spencer and Paige took a trip to Sioux Falls. While in the mall, they looked for rings. Paige found the perfect ring. Spencer made it very clear several times that they were just looking. During the next several months, Spencer worked behind the scenes to order Paige's perfect ring. Paige is snoopy so Spencer had the ring delivered to his office. Fast forward to early March of 2025, Spencer and Paige were in the basement playing card games. Paige brought up the conversation about proposals. She had asked Spencer if he was going to propose on their upcoming spring break trip to Mexico. Spencer vehemently denied it and stated he would never take something so expensive like a ring to a foreign country. This quickly ended the conversation. Meanwhile, Paige had been snooping around the house to see if Spencer had bought a ring. She looked high and low. She looked in all the places she knew Spencer kept things. Her search was unsuccessful. Spencer and Paige packed for Mexico. They headed up to St. Paul to stay with Spencer's brother and sister-in-law the night before the flight. While Spencer was upstairs, Paige once again squeezed Spencer's bag to see if there was a ring inside. She could not feel anything. The next day, they flew to Mexico.

The first day in Mexico was awesome! Spencer and Paige enjoyed great food, cold drinks, and met new friends from Canada. The next day was the big day, at least Spencer knew it was. Spencer talked Paige into taking it easy at the pool because it was the perfect day to relax, dress up for a nice Italian dinner, and take a sunset picture on the beach. Spencer was quiet all day as he was nervous and practicing his speech for that night. He played it off that he had a few too many beverages the night before. While relaxing, Spencer got a notification that his credit card had been stolen. He can be a bit superstitious and was nervous this was setting the stage for a failed proposal. After settling his credit card issues, Spencer and Paige went to their room to get ready. Spencer remembers smiling while watching Paige getting ready in the mirror and thinking, she has no clue what is about to happen. The couple went to the bar as they were early for sunset. After a couple cocktails, they headed for the beach. This was it! Spencer was hiding the box in his pocket for dear life. He purposely positioned himself in different areas so she could not see it. As Paige and Spencer walked to the beach, they agreed they needed a picture. Spencer went to ask a father and daughter if they would take the couple's picture with the sunset in the background. Spencer made Paige stay back with their belongings so no one would steal them ultimately restricting Paige from hearing Spencer ask the duo to take the picture. The father and daughter happily agreed to take their picture. Spencer handed the man his phone and said, "I am going to turn around and I want you to start snapping pictures and don't stop. I'm about to propose." The man and daughter's eyes got wide and their mouths dropped. The man looked at Spencer and said, "Holy sh*t, are you serious? That's awesome, congrats!" Spencer turned around and walked to Paige and grabbed her hands. At that time, Paige was ready to pose for a picture. Spencer stared into her eyes and began talking. What he said exactly, no one knows for sure but it was straight from the heart. Paige couldn't understand what was happening but quickly realized Spencer was getting down on one knee. She said yes! The couple enjoyed the rest of their vacation and the rest is history!
