Our journey together began at the Friendswood Junior High School 8th grade band pool party. Paige remembers turquoise eyes in the hot tub; Andrew remembers a new cutie being swarmed by the girl gang. A friendship quickly bloomed. From the 8th grade variety show, to 9th grade algebra, from matching group Halloween costumes, to Christmas white elephant parties, the two years the Langums had in Texas were foundational. Paige had found her people, of which Andrew topped the list. Looking back at this time, there is rarely a group photo where Paige & Andrew aren’t next to each other.
The Coast Guard moved the Langums across the country, but we managed to stay in touch. Years passed, and although we were apart, our friendship never faded. Paige was in and out of Friendswood for Thanksgivings, proms, and college visits. Paige remembers feeling at home in Andrew’s ‘Captain America’ Jeep. Andrew remembers the days when Paige was back were just a little bit brighter.
Our story was writing itself even back then, though we had not yet seen the strings that were weaving together. Paige & Andrew both made their way independently to Texas A&M University. We reunited as best friends, picking up right where we left off. There was always an unspoken attraction between us, but the timing never seemed right.
During our senior year, the stars finally aligned. Paige fell asleep in Andrew’s arms at a bar (classic). We were both single, and we knew that this was our chance, so we said “why not give it a shot?" We started going on dates, and it quickly felt easy and right.
After graduation, life took us to different cities—Paige to Dallas & Andrew to Houston. We made long-distance work for over two years. From international trips to weekends in each other’s cities, both remember every billboard along the I-45 corridor between Houston and Dallas.
Then came a trip that would change everything. Paige went on an adventure with her best friend to New Zealand. Paige was completely unaware that Andrew had a surprise in store, and Joelle was in cahoots. On February 11th, 2024, Andrew flew halfway around the world to surprise Paige on the island of Waiheke, NZ. On the top of a hill at Mudbrick Winery, Andrew tapped an unaware Paige on the back, dropped to his knee, and asked Paige to marry him. Paige doesn’t remember anything, but said yes:) Andrew remembers the excitement and relief of keeping such a massive surprise.
And now, we can't wait to celebrate our next big chapter with you on March 29th. May it be a day we all remember!
There was always going to be a part of us that loved each other, but we just feel so blessed that our story gets to continue through marriage where we get to love each other fully and completely.
All our love, Paige & Andrew
