Our Wedding

It is amazing how a seemingly insignificant chain of events can lead to the most life altering of happenstances.Had, on November 22, 2015, neither of us decided to go to a University of Utah football game…Had a cold rain not started pelting down on us halfway through the game…Had we not opted to leave the game for a warmer option… Had we not each wandered into Gracie's… Had we not sat at tables right next to each other…That's it, that's our story. We met at a bar. We wouldn't change it for the world and we thank God everyday for leading us on such a seemingly simple journey that would forever join our lives in the most spectacular of ways.

How We Met

Johnnie could write quite an extensive prologue to our proposal with all of his initial planning and sneaking that I was in no way savvy to, but we'll skip that chapter for now and go straight into the fun part…I'm in New York. I'm spending the weekend with two of my closest college friends, Ashley and Meg. Johnnie is staying in Utah to work on his thesis. I spend Saturday walking the city, shopping, visiting museums. Johnnie spends it secretly flying across the country and getting picked up at the airport by Ashley's fiancé, Buzz.The girls and I are walking to meet up with Buzz to make our dinner reservation. Johnnie is standing and waiting in front of the Rockefeller Center.As we approach Rockefeller Center, everyone but me darts off to the side. Confused and disoriented, it takes me a minute to realize that the handsome (un-bearded) man walking towards me is Johnnie.He grabs my hands. He tells me all kinds of wonderful, romantic things that neither of us can remember a lick of. He gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him. Easiest answer of my life. We spend the evening celebrating, surrounded by wonderful friends, neither of us able to wipe the silly grins off our faces. I'd say that trumps our "we met in a bar" story. Good work, Johnnie.

For those of you flying into Denver, there are a few options for transportation to Boulder. There are taxis available as well as Uber and Lyft. These all run around $60 to get from the airport to Boulder.

Denver International Airport

You will have to call the hotel to book with our reduced rates. Please reference the Smith/Rempfer Wedding Rate Hold or booking ID# 20279. This hotel is directly across the street from the venue and only one block away from Pearl Street. Primo location!!

Hotel Boulderado

SuperShuttle is also a great option for getting to Boulder. This needs to be booked ahead of time by either calling or booking online.

Pearl Street Mall is an outdoor pedestrian mall one block away from the venue. It is amazing and so much fun! Shops, restaurants, coffee shops, bars, street entertainers. You'll definitely want to spend some time exploring Pearl.

These are a series of trailheads right below the Flatiron mountains. If the weather is nice, this is a beautiful place to go hiking. Plenty of options to suite all hiking abilities.

Chautauqua, Boulder, Colorado, United States

When in Boulder, do as the Boulderites do! There are tons of brewery options in and around Boulder to do some tasting, touring, and drinking. Renting bikes is an extra fun way to do the rounds. Some of our Boulder favorites are Twisted Pine, Boulder Beer, West Flanders, and Avery (about 15 minutes outside of Boulder).

Boulder is known for its fabulous restaurant scene. Most of these are within walking distance of the venue and the Boulderado Hotel.
