Pamila likes to joke that she found Jancee. The couple met on a dating app geared toward LGBT women. Much like Tindr, both parties have to "like" each other to be able to exchange messages and start to get to know each other.
Pamila found Jancee's profile and reached out first, and luckily, Jancee's first impression was that Pamila was the most gorgeous woman on the site. After weeks of chatting through the app, the two began texting and finally decided to meet up in real life.
They decided to meet up for coffee/tea and a day of movies and gaming, but Pamila jumped the gun a couple of days early and visited Jancee at work. At the time, Jancee was a supervisor at a grocery store (not a great first impression in that uniform...), and while Pamila was out and about that day, she dropped in for the first meeting. In spite of a somewhat awkward store tour and side hug, the two decided to keep their date a couple of days later and stick to the original plan.
The first date was on a Thursday and went well. Plans were made for a second day of movies (Marvel marathon) the next Tuesday, but once again, Pamila jumped the gun, and dropped by Jancee's apartment after work every day between Thursday and Tuesday. The first kiss happened during this period, chemistry grew, and more dates were planned. A few weeks later, the relationship became official, and well...you know the rest of the story!
Gender roles...ugh! Pamila and Jancee describe their relationship as completely equal. Instead of taking on specific roles and responsibilities within the relationship, they knew they wanted to just take care of each other and do life together in every way.
So when they started talking about marriage, it was obvious to both that there would be an exchanging of rings instead of someone taking on the responsibility of a sole proposal.
Yes, rings, plural. Two women, two rings, equality.
They found their rings entirely by happy coincidence. They were meeting a friend in downtown Lexington for dinner one evening and arrived way too early. While walking around, they noticed a local jewelry shop and decided to go in to warm up and browse. The shop featured a variety of jewelry with a wide array of stones and colors, painstakingly handcrafted by the shop's owner.
One specific ring immediately caught Pamila's eye - an infinity ring, a simple design featuring an infinity symbol that allows for just about any type of stone. Pamila and Jancee have a saying for their relationship, "infinitely for infinity", so they knew this was their ring. After a consultation with the shop's owner and a look through a gemstone guidebook, they chose amethyst, known for its properties of healing, happiness, and stability, and also because of its depth and richness when moving between different types of light.
While the rings were being created, Pamila and Jancee started talking method and location. One of their favorite things is to try new restaurants, so the original plan was to make a reservation at a nice place, get all dressed up, and then propose simultaneously after the meal. Except that didn't happen...
As the date approached, something just felt off. It became a source of stress rather than joy as they mapped out directions, looked at the menu, and tried to pick out the perfect outfits. So after a bit of a mini meltdown, they canceled the reservation, booked a table at their favorite sushi restaurant, and picked out their favorite casual outfits for each other.
On the night of the proposal, Pamila and Jancee picked up their rings from Savane's Silver, drove to Blue Sushi Sake Grill, and ordered an appetizer. After scarfing down their appetizer and ordering their main courses, they just couldn't wait any longer and proposed to each other, exchanging rings right before their food arrived, making the meal even more joyful and delicious! The night was made even better because the waitstaff shared in their joy and even paused to take a few photos to capture the event! After dinner, they of course spent the rest of the evening sharing their news with family and friends!
