Parker’s Version

Cody and I first met in our dorm (shoutout to Little Hall!) my freshman year, his sophomore year, at Auburn. Everyone in our dorm was pretty good friends and we would all hang out together in the common room, so I saw Cody in passing mostly. Our memorable first interaction happened when I, ever the eager freshman excited to meet everyone and start going to events on campus, ran into Cody as I was getting ready to head out to the Ukirk kickoff event. I brightly invited him to join me and the small group I had corralled from the dorm, to which he responded, “I’m a sophomore, I don’t need new friends” (don’t worry, we like him more now). I was mostly unfazed by this and said “okay!” and went on my merry way.   Fast forward about a year and a half to my freshman roommate and maid of honor, Abby’s birthday dinner sophomore year, 2016. She had happened to run into Cody on campus earlier that day and invited him to the dinner at Newks that night. Cody and I had both moved out of the dorm at this point, and I saw him occasionally at the ABP on campus getting coffee before class in the morning, but we hadn’t really talked. We struck up a conversation at dinner where it occurred to Abby, as I was in a predominately female major and Cody was in a predominately male major, that he should set me up with someone. He agreed and we exchanged numbers. After that, we started texting pretty much every day and soon started our infamous snap streak that continues to this day. I like to say that he set me up with himself :).   After a few weeks of this, we went on our first date at Acre, and the rest, as they say, is history - we’ve been together ever since. After graduation, Cody moved to Huntsville to work for NASA and I moved to DC to begin working for an architecture firm as a healthcare interior designer. We dated long distance for 4 years until we decided enough was enough and we needed to figure out how to get back into the same city. Atlanta ended up being the decision, as it is my hometown and close to Cody’s family as well.    Almost exactly one year after moving to Atlanta, Cody suggested we take a walk after work one Friday, up through the park near my apartment and over to the Beltline, as we often do. As we approached the park, Cody reminded me of our first date at Acre almost exactly 7 years before and all our milestones since, before getting down on one knee and proposing at the park. To say I was surprised would be an understatement! I am so excited for our life and future together and can’t wait for April 6th!

Cody’s Version

I first met Parker during my sophomore year at Auburn. I was on-campus a week early for to band camp and she was early for sorority rush. We might have met that first week, but there were so many new faces and names that it's hard to remember. The freshman in Little Hall definitely hung out a lot in the lobby, and I think it was the first week of school when Parker invited everyone to a food event at some place. Cody, and I know Parker included this in her summary but it is 100% true, in his grunge sophomore personality, said I don't need more friends - I'm a sophomore. Fast forward a year and I'm a junior living off-campus. I accidentally run into Abby the week of her birthday (or maybe it was on her birthday) and she invites me to her party/dinner at Newk's. I attend, see a lot of old faces, and was sitting across from Parker at the table. She was joking that her major is all women so it's hard to meet a boy in-major, and I was joking that I was mechanical engineering and computer science, neither of which had a lot of girls. So we joked Oh we should set each other up. So I set her up with myself and the rest is history. There are many stories of our first date/not-a-date, me falling asleep on our first hang out (I'm really good at sleeping), me mis-remembering where I asked her to be my girlfriend (Parker proved me wrong with evidence in my mom's guest book), and more. From 50/50 burgers at The Hound (and lots of free pint glasses), to bingo at 1716, Parker was my co-pilot through my latter years at Auburn. I went up to Huntsville to work at NASA and she to DC for her summer internship prior to graduating. After not figuring out what we wanted for a few years, we finally decided to get back in the same city - Atlanta. And here we are :). As Panda by Desiigner once said, I got broad(s) in Atlanta.

Per the above image, the parking deck may be labeled as "LOT FULL." We have pre-ordered parking so you will still be allowed to park at the deck. Continue into it and park as normal. We will have validations for you at the venue.

Right off the Beltline, this former Sears-factory-turned-food-hall and shopping destination has many delicious food stalls and interesting shops. Some of our favorites include Hop's Chicken and Pizza Jeans. The rooftop is also fun with a bar and a mini amusement park.

Ponce City Market

We've taken many a stroll up and down the Beltline, including immediately after getting engaged (shoutout to the Kroger bar)! There are lots of fun restaurants and shops along the way and it's a great way to see the city. This portion of this paved trail also offers easy access to New Realm Brewing and Ponce City Market, among many others.

We couldn't have a list of things to do without a breakfast spot! This is one of our favorites with some of the best biscuits either of us have had! There's a cinnamon roll special every week that's definitely worth checking out, and we both love the hot honey chicken biscuit.

We love visiting breweries, and New Realm has become a go-to. A sprawling, three-level brewery and restaurant right off the Beltline, it features a wide variety of beers and great outdoor seating with a view of the city.

If you're looking for a place to grab a drink and comfort food, Dad's is a great newer spot right in Parker's old neighborhood. The drinks change seasonally but we've never had anything bad! Try the homemade pizza rolls (if they're on the menu).
