Parker + Aaliyah

Hi guys! It’s Aaliyah! I’ll be sharing how we met!

For those of you who don’t know, me and Parker met at the gym this past December! I just got hired and he re-opened his membership. For weeks he wanted to talk to me but never dared to. On Christmas Eve, he will say the Holy Spirit moved his feet and heart for him. He felt this tug on his heart (even though he was terrified) and his first full sentence to me was, “Do you have the munchies?” I was eating McDonald’s and I looked at him with this weird awkward look and was like“No…?” He nervously laughed. Well, he redeemed himself with, “I think you’re very beautiful and I would love to take you out on a date sometime.” I immediately laugh and say, “We’re not doing this.” Sweating and nervous like crazy, he laughed and I could tell I owed him an explanation. I let him know, “I am focused on my relationship with Jesus right now and don’t want to get distracted.” He pulls out a cross and says, “You know Jesus? He saved my life.” For four hours that night, we shared our testimonies. At the end, he asked for my number, and I said “I will give you my number only to be a friend and a resource to help you on your walk.” Well guys, here we are. We are getting married!

Since then, the Lord has done amazing things for both of us. I am excited to see what the Lord will do and how He will use us in His Kingdom for His glory!

Hey, It’s Parker! Here’s my POV!

If you’re reading this then you know who I am! I’ve worked out at River Valley gym since 2020, but in 2023 i actually cancled my membership for 6+ months due to heart and health issues that stopped me from working out. Well in December of 23’ , I signed back up & began getting back on my fitness routine. Upon signing up I instantly noticed Aaliyah & thought wow, this is the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. A week or two later, I was stimulated from some strong pre workout and ran into Aaliyah in the hallway of the gym, I stuttered and nervously asked, “Aaliyah right? How old are you?” With a blank face, my now fiancé replied “22” & walked off quickly. I immediately thought to myself, gosh, what an idiot. I continued to see and develop a crush on Aaliyah, & while I’m far from introverted, I refuse to approach a woman. Until Christmas Eve, that was our only conversation. I had worked out and considering it was a holiday, the gym was mainly empty. While doing cardio I noticed Aaliyah at the front desk and knew I wanted to ask her out, but she was talking to people the entire time. I left the gym and actually came back an hour later, telling myself I “ needed to do cardio “ ( it was an excuse to try and ask Aaliyah out ). While doing cardio for over 30 minutes, Aaliyah was not free at all. When leaving I spoke to my buddy, we owned a business together and I was coming over that night to work on advertising and packing. After we finished talking I noticed Aaliyah, eating alone. I told myself I’d never approach a woman but I knew it was now or I never would. I did, & instantly got turned down. We ended up talking for 4 hours, she gave me her number and warned me “don’t be surprised if I don’t text you back at all”. I texted her when I got to my buddies, she replied, & we’ve been together everyday since. Upon getting to my buddies that night, I actually told him, “I’m going to marry that woman, she’ll be my wife”. My friend has known me for 4+ years and just laughed, thinking that I’d never marry anyone or love anyone like that.

It’s Aaliyah again! We’re so happy you got to know how we met! Ever since, God has done amazing things in our relationship and in our lives. I am excited to spend the rest of my life with my best friend. I thank God everyday for Parker.

We know that we cannot do anything in this life without Jesus, so our goal for the rest of our life will be to put God first, then each other second. God has healed us, redeemed us, set us free from many strongholds, made us whole, and so much more. We pray that in our marriage the Lord’s Kingdom come, His will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Amen ❤️
