A note from the couple:
We get it—weddings are a lot. If this doesn’t fit into your life right now, we’ll find another time to celebrate with you. No questions asked!
Can my dog come?
Short answer, yes! Please review Columbine Cabins lodging rules for pets HERE. Here's the fast facts so you can decide if you want to bring your furry friends:
-The facility will charge you $25 per night per dog ($75 total for the weekend).
-We ask that dogs that do not get along with new dogs well do not attend.
-We ask that dogs are not present during the Welcome Dinner or Brunch.
-Dogs must be crated when left alone in cabins (facility rule).
-If your dog does not have nearly perfect recall with wildlife they must stay on leash at the property, and during the sunrise ceremony hike (ex. Juniper!).
-Each cabin has a maximum of 2 dogs allowed. We will do our VERY BEST to accommodate all pups that want to join, but cannot promise it will shake out perfectly with human cabin assignments. We hope you understand our choice to prioritize our human guests.
-On your RSVP, please indicate if you want to bring your dog and we will PUPdate you by the end of February on the situation so you have ample time to plan.
P.S. We have almost 20 dogs invited to this event, so please consider this when making your decision.
Can I bring a plus one?
Invited guests are only those whose names appear on your invitation. Thank you for respecting our decision to have a small, intimate wedding.
What’s the deal with this ceremony?
For us, the most authentic way to get married is doing a sunrise summit ceremony. We understand that this will not work for everyone, and that is okay! If you do not feel comfortable doing the sunrise ceremony hike, please meet up with us at the Columbine Cabins picnic area for brunch at 9:30AM. If you are interested in the hike, here is some helpful information:
-We will be leaving Columbine Cabins very early (4:00ish AM). It takes 10 minutes to drive to the trailhead on a bumpy road. You will need 4WD, or you will need to get in a car with someone who has 4WD. We will assist in connecting our out-of-town guests with locals who have extra seats.
-You will need a headlamp - the hike up will be in the dark.
-Please wear whatever you are comfortable hiking in. We highly recommend jackets, windbreakers, gloves, and beanies for the summit as it can get windy and will likely be cold at sunrise. It is better to be over-prepared than underprepared.
-The hike is 3.6 miles round trip, and 1,400 feet of elevation gain. Check out the AllTrails description HERE for more information.
Packing List:
We are not going to provide a full packing list because you are all adults, but, here are a few items we want to make sure you bring along:
-Walkie-talkies if you have them (there is no phone signal or wifi at Columbine Cabins)
-Camp chairs and picnic blankets (locals, if you have extra, please bring them for our friends that are flying in!)
-Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses
-Rain jacket (even if rain is not in the forecast, it will come)
-Hiking shoes
-Swimsuit
-Day pack for hiking
-Headlamp and campground lights
-Speakers for cabins
-Yoga mat and/or swimming towel (shower towels are provided by Columbine Cabins)
-Any lawn games you want to contribute to the weekend (bocce ball, spike ball, kubb, etc.)
-Reusable water bottle
-A great attitude!
Dress Code: Instead of purchasing a new item, we encourage guests to purchase used, wear something they already own, borrow from a friend, rent from a clothing company, or choose another sustainable option. You also do not need to follow the themes below – they are just for fun! At the end of the day, we want you all to feel comfortable and confident, and if that means you want to wear dirty overalls, go for it.
Welcome Dinner - "The Gno-cchi to My Heart!"
Show us your best Italian summer style! Sundresses, jumpsuits, florals, collared shirts, linen, embroidery, and silk scarves - feel free to wear white!
Summer Camp Sunday - "70's Summer Camp"
Dolphin hem shorts, friendship bracelets, striped tube socks, bucket hats, jorts, overalls... you get the idea!
Ceremony - "Hiking"
Pat and Bex will be dressed up in classic wedding attire for the ceremony, but we recommend you wear hiking gear. Bright colors are encouraged, but not necessary.
Brunch - "Sunrise Summer"
Semi-formal with an emphasis on bright and bold colors/prints. Be weird, show some skin, feel yourself! See the inspo collage above for reference. You will have time after the hike to freshen up and change. Note: Shoes with tall and/or thin heels are not recommended.
What weather should I expect?
All kinds! Hot, cold, windy, rainy, sunny -- be ready for anything. Be sure to check the weather for Steamboat Springs, and Clark, CO when packing.
This entire weekend is weather-dependent. Plan to be flexible if the weather starts working against us - if you are unable to *go with the flow*, please consider celebrating with us at another time.
Food:
We will be providing every-other meal starting with dinner on Saturday night, and you are responsible for feeding yourself otherwise. We will send out a meal schedule along with cabin assignments when the time comes. The nearest full sized grocery store to the cabins is in Steamboat. Snacks can be purchased at the Columbine Cabins general store (same property as your lodging) or the Clark Store (15 minutes from your lodging). All cabins have a fridge, microwave, stove, and a grill. Once you know your cabin assignment, we recommend looking at your cabin amenities HERE, chatting with your bunk mates, and planning some meals.
*Part of being responsible for your food is making sure your food is protected from wildlife. You do not need a bear can, but you cannot leave exposed food outside your cabin. We have moose, elk, deer, bears, marmots, and many other animals that want your Doritos. Please protect your food from wildlife while you are at the Cabins.
