Our Wedding

Most of you know that Patrick and I met online. I had been alone for over 17 years, never dating, thinking I was happy by myself. In 2017 many things changed. I retired unexpectedly, lost my mother, took in my Aunt Dorothy, who passed away 5 months later, then lost my dog-Smitty. It wasn't long after this I overheard a friend speaking about online dating, and thought maybe I would look into it. I figured it couldn't hurt, so I went onto Our Time which was an online dating site for 55+ and built a profile. I decided to not tell anyone I was doing this, because I didn't want anyone asking questions, nor judging me.Around the time that we met, Patrick was contemplating retirement after a 42-year career at Central Steel and Wire. He had been divorced for approximately 10 years and was looking for more than what he currently had in his life. A friend of his suggested online dating and that was when he decided to try it. When we began speaking he was considering leaving the app because he wasn't happy with his results or findings.We spoke for a few months almost daily, it was then he finally said, "Are we ever going to meet?" Our first date was for dinner at Barracos in Evergreen Park, and the rest is history.

The Word Marriage never passed through either of our lips during our 6, now 7 + years of dating.
