Patrick and Sam met in January, 2023. In typical fashion, Patrick was running late and had Sam waiting in the cold. The two sat down and talked for hours at a local restaurant. They learned that they both had passion for animals, strong family values, and a joy for land and nature. If you ask Sam, he rambled all night and over shared, if you ask Patrick it was great because he got to quietly sit and over analyze. The first date that lasted several hours was the start of their Hallmark movie. While dating it was apparent how strong of chemistry the two had, and their bond had gotten stronger through sharing their passions with one another. Some would say they were like kids gulping water from the garden hose and asking for things to never change. No one can say that these two are boring and lacking adventure, but the two find relaxation and peace inside the barns caring for their animals, and supporting each other with their aspirations of improving the animals daily.
On May 3rd 2024 the two ventured together to Sam’s family property to trail ride. It was a cold, rainy, and foggy day but the two had been planning this adventure. They rode for 5 hours over hills and valleys sharing in laughs and conversations of future goals. Patrick learned that in Highland County everyone is a friend, and not a single gate has a lock. The night of May 4th the two were joined by some of their best friends at the Big Fish. Together, the group got pints of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, stress balls, and fidget spinners and returned to Lucky Loop Hollow Farm after a few ciders. The next morning, May 5th 2024, the two embarked on an adventure - riding up to Sam’s favorite spot on the farm (Rodney, this is where a pool is going to be one day). This was no easy feat as the horses had never seen cattle and they were met by 50 plus steer who had never seen horses. Once at the top, Sam asked for a photo shoot and sat on his horse calming his anxiety. Oblivious Patrick started to walk up asking about the property when Sam had asked for more picture, he said the first ones weren’t good enough. Sam requested that Patrick get to one side, as they stood there, one picture was taken, it was then suggested they get pictures standing beside the horses and then what appeared to be Sam falling off his horse was him rushing to one knee to ask for forever.
In conclusion, Sam asked, Patrick said yes, and now you’re here celebrating them.
