Our Wedding

We first met in the lobby of what was then Slate Church, completely unaware that we were actually neighbours, living next door to each other in residence. We both thought the other was cute, but neither of us made a move—convinced that the other was too cool to want to be friends. For two years, life took us in different directions. We lived in different cities, attended different churches, and didn’t keep in touch. But after emerging from the trenches of Covid, we both found ourselves excited to serve again, stepping into leadership roles for student small groups. That’s when Ps. Nate Lambert called a group of potential leaders onto a Zoom call. At the time, it felt nerve-wracking (we laugh about it now), but it turned out to be the moment that set everything in motion. He asked each of us to find two co-leaders, and once we did, we could leave the call. As the number of people on the screen dwindled, Paul begged Kim to let him join her group, promising to be a great leader and not to disappoint. Leading together brought us closer, but at the time, we were both in different relationships. When Paul went through a breakup, Kim—being a good friend—tried setting him up with some girls at church. But somewhere along the way, Paul had a realization: Kim is the kind of person I want to be with. Since she was still in a relationship, he brushed it off and was content with their friendship. Then, life shifted again. When Kim was finally single, Paul found himself at a crossroads. He went to his mentor, Ps. Jared, and shared his dilemma—Jared’s advice was simple: "You could wait… but don’t wait too long, or someone else will snatch her up."In December 2022, after a volunteer appreciation night, Paul asked Kim to be his girlfriend. Love a good best friends to lovers trope. "How did you know you wanted to marry me?" Paul: It was the little things—how well you got along with my family, your passion for building the church, and how I couldn’t imagine doing life without you. You are kind, loving, generous, and patient. You serve sacrificially and support me in everything I do. You love food (which, let’s be honest, was a huge plus). You love board games (which if you know me, is another plus). You bring joy into my life. I didn't understand why people always say to marry your best friend, and now I get it. Kim: I always knew I wanted you in my life in some way. Your heart for serving others, your love for hosting and building community—it all drew me to you. My family took to you instantly, which I know is important for both of us. No one makes me laugh like you, while also making me feel safe enough to be vulnerable. You challenge me to grow and also give me the space to be fully myself. You’re my best friend. We’ve always loved the idea that you should serve others well on your own, but when you find someone who could be your person, you serve even better together. And you are that person for me.

Our Story

I first got to know the couple through volunteering at Base Church, and from the very beginning, my husband, kids, and I couldn’t help but love them—both as individuals and as a couple. They’re tenderhearted, wise beyond their years, teachable, and so incredibly generous. It’s easy to admire people who are this full of love and loyalty, and honestly, we just feel insanely blessed to have been welcomed into their lives and hearts 🥲.

Some of my absolute favorite memories with them include Mitchell and I getting randomly matched up with them as a mentor couple during the Alpha pre-marriage course, our board game evenings, dance parties with our toddlers, and one especially meaningful car ride to Toronto when we went dress shopping together.

If I had to pick one word for each of them, Kimmy is joyful and Paul is steadfast. And if you ever catch me at karaoke, you can bet I’ll be singing If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys or Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Diana Ross. As for nicknames... Somehow, a few years ago, two people decided to call me Big Tuna, and to this day, I still have no idea why 😂.

Alicia Snider

Hey, I’m Jay. I have known the bride since birth (allegedly, she is my sister), and I know the groom because of the bride (and church, of course), as he is my brother in Christ/ future brother-in-law. This couple is special to me because they show how a Christ-centered relationship should operate in the church. There are so many good moments I have had with this couple, but some of my favourite moments have been making a snowman with Paul and jumping in the snow with Kim and Paul before going in Paul’s hot tub.

My favourite reoccurring moment with the couple is when Kim does work, and Paul and I get to play 2k. One word to describe the bride would be goofy, and one word to describe the groom would be genius. My go-to karaoke song would be “Always Be My Baby” by Mariah Carey. A close second is “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton. My Nickname is Batman, and how I got it, is from saving the city. I have many hobbies (Like saving the city, but I will just say Basketball for now).

My role and goal in the wedding will be to not bawl my eyes out and to not hurt myself dancing. Oh, and most importantly, to be there for Paul (Kim comes second) Men rule, girls are cool too but I will do anything for my boy.

Jay Madume

Kim and I have known each other since I made my peaceful journey out of the womb and had such a close bond that we would take “screaming, crying, throwing up” as literally as possible every time we had to go home after visiting each other. I met Paul my first Sunday at Base Church and we have grown close through movies, bubble tea, and his extensive collection of board games. 

My favourite memories with K+P are from the summer of 2022 when we would all get together with our friend Emily and watch shows and movies together - mostly of the scary variety. We are all now well acquainted with the looks and sounds of each other’s fear.


Paul and Kim have continually turned to God throughout their relationship and have put Him at the forefront. Their marriage will exemplify God’s love and I believe their commitment to each other will be a great blessing to God’s kingdom.

Beki Shana

I have known Paul since Grade 3, and he has been one of my closest friends ever since. From endless hours playing basketball in the driveway until the sun went down — perfecting our alley-oop dunks — to late nights gaming or just hanging out, we have made countless memories together. Paul's dedication, loyalty, and sense of humour have been a huge influence in my life in shaping who I am today, showing me the meaning of hard work and true friendship.
Last year, I had the pleasure of meeting Kim, and it's easy to see why she is such an incredible match for Paul. She's one of the sweetest, kindest people I have ever met, and I know she'll bring out the best in him as they start this next chapter together. 
I'm truly honoured to stand by their side on their special day and couldn't be happier for both of them. Let the celebrations begin!

Hi! I’m Bethany, but most people call me Beth. I’m so honored to celebrate Kim and Paul as they step into this beautiful new chapter! Their joy is truly electric and contagious—it’s impossible to be around them without feeling uplifted. Their love for Jesus is inspiring, and the way they bring His joy to everyone around them is such a gift.

Kim and I have been friends and prayer partners for over seven years, and I’m beyond grateful for the way she has walked alongside me in faith. Seeing her and Paul together is such a testament to God’s goodness, and I couldn’t be happier for them!

When I’m not soaking in the joy of amazing friends like Kim, you can usually find me somewhere cozy with a book, painting, or dreaming about my next adventure. I’m passionate about the Lord and love traveling to see more of His creation. Can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!

I met Kim and Paul through church, where I quickly became their favourite (and most consistent) small group member. They're some of my absolute favourite friends, whether we’re hanging out, serving, or leading together. If I had to describe them in one word, Kim is undeniably gregarious, while Paul is nothing short of cheeky. As for Christian? Well, he's most likely to never do anything with his life (sorry, Christian). My go-to karaoke song is "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" by Shania Twain, and my nickname is Tay — short for Taylor, because I'm efficient like that. Oh, and my role at the wedding? Finding a wife- wish me luck!

Taylor Stewart

I met Kimmy and Paul through LOCALS when I first joined their group at church, and from the start, I could see how deeply they both love and serve others. Their hearts for Christ shine so brightly—you can truly feel His love through each of them individually and even more so as a couple. They care so deeply for those around them, which is such a rare and special quality. Some of my favorite memories with them include our Sunday lunches, any one-on-one time with Kimmy (which is always the best!), our summer cottage trip with friends, and our double date—all moments filled with laughter and joy. If I had to describe them in one word, Kim is JOY, and Paul is servant-hearted. You can always count on me to belt out Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield at karaoke. In my free time, I love thrifting and discovering new music. Oh, and you’ll probably hear people call me "Syd"—a nickname from my name!

Sydney Blue

Hey everyone, so excited to be apart of the crew. For those who don't know me, my name is Christian and my main task for this wedding will be making sure Taylor is behaving himself for the day. I have had the pleasure of calling Kim and Paul my friends for a couple of years now, with such great memories of Sunday lunches, trips to the cottage and always being blessed with their amazing cooking abilities. I have learned so much from watching this couple- Kim you are someone who loves people so genuinely and with such a bubbly joy, and Paul you have such great wisdom and an ability to always call those around you higher, bringing out the best in them. Sounds like a pretty deadly duo to me. Guys I'm so excited to you two tie the knot and live out the life God has in store for you. Here's to a great day!!

Kim and Paul met at Slate Church, which merged with Koinonia Christian Fellowship in 2024. This place has meant the world to us. It's the place where our faith has been able to be strengthened, we have been blessed with an amazing community and honestly we just love it a lot. We have three locations and serve primarily at the University District location that has services in the evening. Feel free to check out our other location in Kitchener- City Centre. This market is so cute! Kim and Paul love cooking and this spot is a cute little market close to the venue with fresh produce, little shops. We recommend the Kombucha, fresh deli meats, and apple fritters!! It's closed on Sunday so if you're in the area before or after the wedding, you could visit!

St. Jacobs Farmers' Market

Kim and Paul are fans of hiking and went on a few hiking trips with their small group at this location, when they were leading together. If you like hiking, this place would be gorgeous at this time of year with the changing leaves!

Huron Natural Area

This is where we took our student group bowling and there's lots to do here!
