Our paths began to cross in 2018, when Hännah first entered Roberts Wesleyan University as a Freshman - at the time, Paul was a Sophomore. Simultaneously, we were attending Calvary Assembly and both prioritizing building a strong faith community within our college group. When the world shut down in 2020, we found ourselves in the same virtual summer bible study. At the time, Hännah began reaching out and was greatly interested in Paul, who eventually asked her on a date and though for the time being, that’s where our “romantic” story took a pause, an incredibly meaningful friendship was just beginning to form. We went on to lead bible studies together and serve side by side in church for the next two years as nothing more than friends. When Hännah left for Spain to finish her final semester of undergraduate work, Paul began to initiate more consistent, long distance communication in hopes of taking their friendship to the next step, and this time, for good. He was patient as Hännah navigated the trials living abroad brought her, and in time she realized that it always had (and always would be) Paul for her. They began to FaceTime and text regularly, and when Hännah returned and graduated, dates turned into a steady commitment to care for each other and build something beautiful together. Our relationship from the start has been characterized by openness, humility, understanding and forgiveness. And though they say the rest is history, we believe the best of our love story is just beginning.
