Our Wedding

Paul and Gracy first met in August 2023. Paul noticed Gracy sitting alone before a church meeting and decided to walk over, say hi, and introduce himself. That small moment sparked the beginning of a wonderful friendship. Over the next few months, their circle of friends grew—filled with pickleball matches, game nights, and plenty of food runs.

How It All Began

By October 2023, Paul and Gracy had become close friends, but neither was sure if the other felt something more. What Gracy didn’t know was that her roommate—and her roommate’s boyfriend—were already playing matchmaker behind the scenes. One day, as Gracy’s roommate’s boyfriend was heading up to their apartment, he ran into Paul outside. Knowing Gracy had a bit of a crush, he spontaneously invited Paul to join their planned double date to Cornbelly’s—as Gracy’s date. Paul said yes. That night was full of fall fun, laughter, and a little spark that neither could ignore. It was the first of many dates, and the start of something truly special.

The First “Date”

It wasn’t until December 2023, a month and a half later, that they went on what they consider their first real date. Paul planned the night: sushi (a shared favorite), followed by a one-on-one game of Catan—Gracy’s all-time favorite board game. They set up the game in the trunk of Paul’s car and played, laughing, talking, and sharing some “good-natured” competition. As for who won that legendary match? The couple has agreed to keep that a secret.

The First “Real” Date

After their first “real” date, Paul and Gracy spent as much time together as possible before Gracy left for winter break. Even while apart, they stayed close—texting constantly and keeping the connection strong. The day before New Year’s Eve, Gracy found out Paul didn’t have any plans to celebrate. Half-joking, she invited him to drive up to Idaho Falls to play board games with her family. To her surprise, Paul said yes. The next day, he made the 3½-hour drive to Idaho, spent the evening playing games, eating chocolate-dipped everything (yes, even pickles—to Gracy’s dismay), and then drove all the way back to Provo for work the next morning. It was a whirlwind day—but one that made it clear this was something special.

A Whirlwind New Year

A week after their New Year’s adventure, it was time for Gracy to head back to Provo for school. She decided to return a day early, and that very evening—January 6th, 2024—Paul officially asked her to be his girlfriend. Gracy said yes, and from that moment on, what had started as a simple “hello” before a church meeting became something so much more.

Making It Official 

A few months later, while Gracy was dropping Paul off at the church for a meeting, something unexpected happened. As he got out of the car, Paul casually said, “Bye, love you,” before closing the door and walking away—leaving Gracy sitting there, jaw on the floor. Was it a slip of the tongue? A “called the teacher mom” moment? Her mind raced with possibilities, while Paul seemed completely unbothered in the days that followed. Finally, a few days later, while they were hanging out, Paul brought it up. He admitted that at first, it had been an accident—but the more he thought about it, the more it felt right. Then, he looked at Gracy and told her that he really did love her. And she told him she felt the same way.

An Accidental “I Love You”

A year and a few months later, on April 27th, 2025, while visiting Paul’s family in Texas, Paul and Gracy took a walk to the park to watch the Zoom broadcast of their church meeting back home—Paul was being released from his calling, and they wanted to tune in together. After it ended, they headed back to the house, where Paul told Gracy they were taking family photos. As they walked toward the backyard, she saw Paul’s family waiting—the closer they got she started to realize this wasn’t just about pictures. And just when Gracy thought it couldn’t get any better, her mom and dad stepped out from behind a truck, turning a beautiful surprise into something truly unforgettable. It was the perfect proposal—and the beginning of forever for the happiest couple.

My cousin Sydnee has been with me all the way. Even living in Twin Falls didn’t stop us—we’d find any excuse to visit each other. No matter the distance, we always found ways to stay close. We’ve never needed much to have a good time. Whether we’re totally missing shots at pool or singing (badly) at karaoke, we always have fun—and we never stop trying. Sydnee has always been one of my biggest supporters, someone I trust deeply, and someone who will always be an important part of my life.

My childhood friend Savannah has been more than a best friend—she’s become family. She’s been a constant in my life, always there, always caring, and always helping me grow. Every wild idea we had growing up? You can bet it started with Savannah. We could talk endlessly about friends, sports, boys, etc—we were always up to something. No matter how much time passes between visits, being with her always feels like coming home. I’m so lucky to have had her by my side then, and even luckier to still have her now.
